Hi guys, thanks for the help in advance.

I'm a running a Precision Power 5 Channel amp and Elevation Audio Concert Series 6.5" seperates up front off of an Alpine CDA-9857.

Here's my problem, it's actually pretty wierd. At mid to high volumes, my system sounds incredible. Vocal clarity is one thing I aspire to in my systems and it's something I've achieved with my current setup. It sounds fantastic! The problem comes when I listen carefully at a low volume. My mids up front distort and it's pretty audible. Same deal with the car on and off. It couldn't be the CD because I've tried several high quality ones (like carrie underwoods latest LOL) and I'm getting the same result.

The tweeters play without distortion, why would the mids?

sorry to double up.

I went to the car and took a second listen. The tweeter is also distorting. I had to put my ear right up against it and it is for sure distorting.

Head unit? I bet if you listen to the woofer, too, it's got a similar sound to it.

If it doesn't, then the problem is in your amplifier, probably with the front end, i.e. the crossover or buffer op-amps. There is nothing you can do to fix said issue, save sending it back for repair. If it's new, and has a warranty, you might be able to exchange it.

Yes the woofer has the same sound.

Could it be because my power cable is pretty close to the RCA's?

No. Try a different, known good, audio source, say an MP3 player, and plug directly into the amplifier, through it's RCA inputs. If it still does it then, you have a bad amp. If not, it's in the head.
