i have a pioneer head unit with a clarion 7 band eq   but unfortunately this setup doesnt do exactly what i want it to do. Im looking to be able to adjust the mids and highs for the front seperately than the rears.  this eq adjusts everything at once.    would a processor be better or a better eq.

thanks

If your existing processor doesn't do what you want it to do, then you are stuck with looking for a different solution. That is the inevitability of the situation. (BTW, EQs are processors by their very nature, but a processor isn't necessarily JUST an EQ.)
Now, that said, you can either find a single box external processor that allows you independent processing capabilities for front and rear, (they do exist) or you can get "lesser" processors, and put one on the front outputs and one on the rear outputs.
Depending on what you want to spend, (I spent over $1600 on my processors alone... but those are EQ (true parametric, and 31 bands), crossover, and time-delay functions all in one box) you can ultimately do ANYTHING you want, you just have to do some research and find what solution fits your needs. Are you looking for an EQ that allows you to adjust from the driver's seat, at any time, like a graphic EQ, or are you looking for a trunk mount, set-it-and-forget it solution?
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

hey thanks for the response,   either solution(up front or in the trunk )would be suitable for me.  I just want to be able to play around with the mids and highs a liittle bit more for the rear and front seperately than i do now, thats all.  All the other features such as time delay is not really necessary. The eq that i have now does a decent job  but it just doesnt seperate the front and rear.   $1600 huh? whoa...lol   i guess i better start shopping around

thanks
