Hi,
I want to add the following 12VDC Power outlet to my motorcycle. If i wire it directly to the battery, how can i get the Power outlet to stop providing power to any accessory when the bike is off.
If i need to use a relay, will this 12VDC/30A SPST Automotive Relay work or do i need a Rocker Switch instead.
If i can use a relay, how would it be wired. I see 3 prongs on the relay. Do the positve and negative wires from the power outlet plug into the relay and then another wire to the battery itself? Please advise.
For the record, i also use this site for my tahoe 02.
thanks in advance for any help

The Relay has 4 prongs.

One is hidden from view from the way the picture was taken.

It will do the job just fine.

The diagram I posted refers to the pin numbers on the bottom of the relay you picked.

John,
Thanks. that diagram you posted is perfect. The only thing i do not understand is the key switch. I bought the relay and will install it this weekend with prong 30 going to the + on the battery and the 12v outlet going to prongs 86 and 87 as you described. If you have time, could you please explian prong 85. Again, thank you for your help. -sam

Do you have a key switch on the bike?

All you have to do is find a wire that only has power when the key is on. It could even be hooked to a fuse that is only on when the key switch is on. If not  most bikes have the headlights on whenever the bike is running Just hook that wire to that circuit.

pin 85 is one side of the Relay coil it will energise the relay whenever + 12v is on that terminal.
