any help or information would be appreciated b/c as of now, im stuck. what im trying to accomplish here, i have installed hid low beam in my motorcycle. i purchased a 528t(timed relay)in hopes so when i start the bike, the ballast would turn on at a set time after the bike has been running. purpose is so i am not stressing my starting/charging system or the ballast by having them both start at the same time.(stock halogens come on automatically when bike is started)i want to know if there is a way i can have the relay delay my headlights on startup. as of now, the relay will only complete the circuit when the acc. is turned off(relay will complete...stay complete for set time... then open) please,any help. thanks, erik

still no luck.i get power to that wire for however long i have the timer set for. im trying to delay my headlights from comming on at starup not delay them to stay on after i shut down

correct. but from the looks of it, the 528t will not work for me in this application

Add this circuit where the black stripe wire is and it should do what you want it to.

Constant to Momentary Output

The capacitor allows the coil of the relay to be energized until the capacitor stores a charge, thus de-energizing the coil. The resistor bleeds off the charge of the capacitor when positive voltage is removed from the other side of the coil. You can increase the output time by simply changing the value of the capacitor. This one will give you about a 1/2 second output.

When in doubt, try it out !

Is your bike currently set up so the headlights remain off when you switch on the ignition, but before starting? If not, you can put in a circuit so that the headlights remain off until after you release the starter button. If it's already set up that way, are you just looking for a longer delay to allow the battery to charge up before turning on the headlights? HID's typically draw less than regular headlamps, so I wouldn't think you need to worry about stressing the charging system. The usual concern is having the HID's switch on and off too frequently; that's what you want to avoid.
