Hi Folks,

I have the "le chauffeur" LC-4 remote starter by AstroFlex. They gave me the user's AND Install manual when they installed it. I lost the install manual- which I read a couple of times to Reset the unit after it went out of whack. Now I've lost it and my starter needs to be reset again- sometimes it starts- sometimes it doesn't- just flashes the lights several times. Can anyone help me get it? It isn't online, AstroFlex won't provide it and my dealer doesn't carry the line any more.

I actually spoke to a tech at AstroFlex and after begging him he reluctantly told me a way to do it with DIP SWITCH # 8 inside the remote... I opened the remote and problem is there are 12 and they are not marked and they are not in a pattern they are just randomly placed all over the inside of the remote.

Please help.

Thanks!

Bill

How old is this unit? WoW..... the dip switches they spoke of are on the brain itself, not the remote.  PUT IT BACK TOGETHER.

describe to me what you mean by "reset"    and "out of whack"

If the unit has intermittant starting issues.... it's NOT the transmitter or the brain.

Whats the year make and model of your car my friend.  I found the user guide, but no install.

Thanks for your interest-sorry for the delay in my reply.

I have a 1997 Buick Park Avenue. I bought the starter new and had it installed 5 years ago.

The brand and model is:

le chauffeur LC-4  It is listed as an Astroflex product.

This is the PDF version of the owners manual:

http://www.astroflex.com/modules/AxialRealisation/img_repository/files/documents/193-127-302-00%20(Fr-An%20LC-1%20-%20LC-4).pdf

The only button on the 4 button remote that was set up was the star * button to start it. The installer had to put one of my car keys inside the unit somehow to disable the car's security system. In order to remote start the car I must:

1: Lock the car when I get out.

2: Unlock the car with my Buick remote prior to remote start.
3: Then remote start the car.

This has been the case since the day it was installed and is the way they told me I had to do it.

I used to have the Service Manual that actually gave step by step instructions for correcting problems that came up. For example to reset the unit after the battery had been disconnected... Part of the instructions involved sitting in the car and pushing the button on the Antenna unit, then pushing one or more of the buttons on the remote- I just can't remember it.

On 3 occasions mechanics disconnected the battery for safety rather than turn off the toggle switch. When I got the car back each time and tried to start the car all that happened is the car lights blinked like 10 times but the car didn't start. Following the instructions from the Service Manual I was able to reset the unit and it worked fine.

I just got the car back from the mechanic- and again the starter is goofed up. Sometimes it starts and sometimes all that happens is the lights just blink like 10 times.

Yes I know there is a togle switch- which I can't find and neither could the mechanics but it didn't matter because I'd just reset the unit after I got the car back- now I've lost the service manual.

Hope this answers your questions.

Bill
