Hello

I am trying to Install a seat heater in a 2007 GMC Yukon XL, it call for a accessory Hot when the key is on, but the wire is so thin, It is a pink wire and it on a 2amp fuse the seat heater has it own inline fuse of 15 amp. So there are 2 front seat heater each with it own inline fuse and i need to find a good accessory hot wire only when the key is on not constant hot.

2 options russ either of which i have used with no problems
ist is to utilize a relay of the thin gauge ign hot wire you have found, this way that low amperage line is only opening the relay
pin
86 to ign hot
85 to ground
87 to heavy constant hot near fusebox on left side of dash
30 out to seat heater power wire
or
my preferred method is to run the power wires out under the hood, and using the input side of an ign hot fuse(test first as some labeled circuits we would think are ign hot are actually constant so test with meter or test light)the input side of the fuse will still show ign hot even when fuse is removed this way your add on is not reliant on the amperage of the factory fuse nor can the extra draw overtax circuit and pop fuse
i have done many seat heaters and have utilized this method with no issues

Why such a desire to NOT go to 12v constant? With a proper switch, and a relay to control the seat heater.... there is no problem, or risk?

You simply MUST remeber to shut it off when you get out! (oh, I do see the problem here..... I would probly do the same thing!)

Ther MUST BE ign. feeding the BCM, ECM, whatever you need to call it. This is what I would be looking for! I have not done anything newer than 05.

But, I do have the astrochart pictures. Looking towards the under left side of the dash I see 3 large clips. A blue, gray, and at the bottom, a white.

Look at that white plug. Test those!

you wouldnt want to use constant power as a customer doesnt want to be inconvienienced by having to remember to turn it off same as you dont hook a radio to constant power only a seat heater would be harder to remember you left it on so youd come out to a dead battery not good!the bcm and other such items in new cars uses low voltage to operate (see new gm ignition switches)therefore you dont have a safe enough power capacity for 1 let alone 2 seat heaters,by using the relay a low voltage ignition source(which many new cars only use) is good enough to open the relay therefore now your seat heaters would be drawing off the constant power when relay is energized(just make sure your using a high enough amperage constant for your relay( new cars unlike old cars just dont have the power capacity we need even at the ignition switch and many things now run thru data bus, relay or input side of fuse is safest bet

You'll want to use the relay method as jim outlined. Its easy and its the safest method  with the newer style ignitions.

Thanks I will try that sound good.Well this is a woman truck so it will be impossible for her to remember to turn it off. that why we can't put it on constant hot wire. So i like your suggestion using a relay.

Oh by the way did you mean to tie in the Pink wire that is ign 12v when the key on and that wire is tie in with a 2amp fuse under the hood?

no, use that wire on pin 86 of relay, pin 85 to ground,87a not used,87 to the large (red wire i believe)constant hot behind left side of dash trim, 30 to seatheaters
each will have there own fuse(or run a heavy 10-12 gauge wire out under hood to battery constant hot and install a 30 amp fuse at connection)
but on this particular vehicle i have ran my 2 seat heater wires out under hood thru hood release cable grommet and hooked them on the input side of an ignition fuse, with no problems
