i have a 2004 ford explorer, bought a rs102e bulldog remote starter, hooked everything up per the install manual as well as thier website, verified that everything worked after i made all connections, and everything worked fine so, to make it easier to mount everything out of the way, i disconnected the wiring from the main control module, mounted and routed all the wires, hooked everything back up, and now only the door locks will work by the remote

now, when i press the start button on the remote, the ignition comes on as well as the lights, and thats all that happens, it will cycle through this about three times and shut off, i have tried everything, and could really use an experts opinion as to what could be wrong, i have checked and doublechecked everything, and tried calling tech supprt just to remain on hold for 15 minutes so i can leave a message that never gets returned, i used the 791 by-pass, for the (transponder system)

maybe by disconnecting everything , i have to reset the module, the by pass or the truck anti theft system

i have tried that, just hoping i did it right

any assistance will be greatly appreciated

try disconnecting the transponder and starting it with the key in the ign. that will tell you if its hooked up properly.

my first question is by the transponder do you mean the 791 by pass, if not could you tell how do disconnect the transponder

ok, i figured out the transponder removal

unplugged the transponder and yes the vehicle started with the key without the transponder, and the 791 in place

then the transponder is not programmed or is not hooked up right, I do not know much about the DEI bypass parts, but some of the other guys may be able to help you.

The 791 is a Bulldog piece, not made by DEI.

It is their 'one-piece-fits-most' bypass. With the 04 Explorer it operates just like any other key in a box type bypasses. You need to wrap the ring around the key cylinder, put a key in the box, and provide the box with ground, constant hot, ground when running.

Since you can start the truck with a key in the off position it leads me to believe you either missed a connection/did not put in a key, or did not have the ring in position correctly.

Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

I agree with twelvoltz.

Also, since you don't even need a single tool to pop the rubber cover off the key cylinder, and play with placement of the ring, I would start there, since it is so easy.

Also, on those long-style Ford keys, the coil of wire in the bypass box must be around the "Ford" oval logo on the head of the key. You might have to cut open or otherwise modify the bypass box to make the key fit in the right spot.

ok, did i tried moving the key 1/4" at a timethrough the key loop,and still got nothing

finally got a hold of tech support, they suggested i check the ignition output from the 16 pin harness to see if im getting a ground from that,,, (a blue wire from the 791 by-pass connects to this wire)

i checked it once and checked it twice, i am not getting a ground from this wire, does anyone know what step i should take next

figured it out

the 791 by pass was a p.o.s

i went through three of them before i came across one that worked properly,

everything works fine

be carefull if anyone fools around with that thing,

poor design, poor quality
