Just picked up a prostart 3310 to replace the 3300 i previously had installed in my 1999 acura 1.6 el (same as civic ex 4dr)  the 3300 worked perfectly for 3 years until my alternator's power regulator went bad and fried it.  so anyway, the wire harness from the old autostart plugs right into the new one, i checked and everything is wired up the exact same even though the model number changed.  infact everything works fine as far as door locks and programming.  but i cant get the it to learn the tach.  Im not really sure where to start troubleshooting.  when i flash the hood pin, then press on the brake and hold lock and unlock, i get 5 clicks, then i take my foot off the brake and start the car, let it reach idle, and press the brake, but nothing happens.  any suggestions what could be wrong?

Thank you

your on the right track. do the same thing, but follow instuctions. i had probs too with the CT 3400 install on my aunts 00 mazda.

1) flash the hood pin

2) press on the brake and hold. Press lock and unlock
3) unit clicks 4 times
4) take foot off the brake and start the car with key
5) let it reach idle speed (low about 800 - 1000rpm)
6) press and HOLD the brakes untill the unit click 5 times. (flashes parking lights) *unit programmed*
7) remove key from ignition.

remote start and see if it over or under cranks.

okay well, i have been reading the manual and following the procedure to the t.  I checked all the wires again to see if anything was wrong at the ignition harness, all looked fine.  so I decided to go back and exchange for another one at CT.  plugged it in, exact same problem, door locks work, all lights work, what is happening is when I flash the hood pin, press the brake and hold lock and unlock to enter tach programming mode, the lights flash 4 times but then they go off as if the unit wont go into that mode for some reason.  I was suspicious that the tach wire was severed or not making contact as the wires were installed about 4 years ago, so i pulled the plug out of the cpu and put my multimeter on the tach wire, started the car, the signal is perfect, goes up and down when i rev the engine, so that wire is fine.  im at a loss, the faq is useless and prostart dosent give you a tech support number on the website, what could be wrong?

Can you tell us where the wire is attached to in the engine ? Color and location please. Also, after you press the LOCK/UNLOCK button and release the brake, you start the vehicle and let it reach a low idle...... press the brake until the unit flashes 5 times..... right ??
