Hello, I'm new to this so sorry if I messed up somewhere....

I got a 1993 VW Golf with Manual transmission and got myself a Prostart from Canadian Tire model CT-3370

I just got a couple of questions which I'm unsure where I messed up... I'm having issues programming the thing...well actually "Flashing the Hood Pin?"

https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/alarmdetail/2177.html I have followed this guide in installation however;

- I have two red +12 Constants on my Prostart therefore I used them both instead of one and no relay (no fuses have blown)

- The 12 Pin accessory wires have not been connected on the Prostar (The 6Pin main +Constant 12, Starter, Accessory, grounds, coil, brake switch, antenna havebeen connected)
- I have not used relay's for the "INDEPENDENT PARKLIGHTS", I have connected the Parking lights by the Headlight switch (Gray/Blak & Gray/Red)
Do I need to do this in order to flash my hood PIN??

Hood PinBROWN / Red (-) Driver's Kick or OEM Alarm behind Fuse Panel
Factory DisarmDisarms w/Unlock
Door TriggerBROWN / White (-) Driver's Kick Panel
Door LockYellow/Red Driver's Kick Panel
Door UnlockRED / Black Positive Trigger
Horn WireBLACK / YELLOW 3 Pin Connector behind Fuse Panel

Head LampWHITE/ Black Light Switch

none of those I have connected for my remote starter, (thats the only option I want)

I HAVE USED THE PROSTART hood pin.....

and this is where I get stuck, right at the beginning... with Flashing the hood pin<"Arial Narrow"> <"Arial Narrow">

The Installer … The Module …

<"Arial Narrow">Press and hold the hood pin for 4 seconds.
<"Arial Narrow">Ok I do hold it for 4 secs
Let go of the hood pin. Parking lights “ON”
Well, when I do it, it comes on right away and after 3rd sec just before it hits 4 secs the parking lights turn off.
While the parking lights are on, press down
the hood pin once more.
Well, at this time my parking lights aren't on but i tried continuing anyway..... i press the hood pin once more and lights come back on
Release the hood pin again “ON” for 20 seconds
lights go off again, I don't have 20 secs. THE POS is currently off again....?
Can anyone see where I screwed up? or miss a wire..

lift the hood and use the programming assistance button on the unit to mimic the hood pin ALOT easier prostarts hoodpins are "picky" so to speak
F.B.S.S air ride is the only way to roll

Just hit the hood pin down for like 2 sec and then hit it down again and let go just do it quick and your parking lights should stay on. Just did the same system in a 94 jetta today same problem with the hood pin

chadwa2003 thanks for your reply, I was wondering if you had to use relays for your parking lights? because it is showing a diagram.. is that optional or is it a must?

prostart has the parking light relays built on board unless instructed otherwise.

You don't need relays but you must isolate the independent parking lights left and rights. Whether you use 2 6 amp diodes or 2 relays to do so. If you use relays
85 to parking light output of prostart
86 to ground
87 to 12 fused volts
30 to one of the parking light wires
you will do the same for both relays just different output
But it's just easier to use diodes
wire them with the band facing the parking light wires

Sorry, you can NOT post a reply.
