trunk release to trigger alarm

I have a 02 cavalier that has an interior trunk release button. What I want to do is disconnect that button so that it wont pop the trunk. But then I want to rig the button so that if someone smashes in the window and presses that button, the alarm will trigger. Now I will be installing a glass break sensor to help protect the windows, but with those you sometimes dont know if they will work.

since most alarms have a (-) trigger inputs to set off the alarm, simply one wire of the switch to ground and the other to the alarm. or get creative and use a relay and the ground when armed  (if your alarm has one, it should) so you can still pop the trunk with the switch unless the alarm is armed

Ok. Well I wired aux 1 to the trunk release button. That wire in the vehicle is BLACK/ white and is positive polarity. So would I simply just wire up a relay off that wire to the ground when armed wire?

85 - ground when armed 86 - +12v aux 1 87 - +12v 87a- switch side of BLACK/ white in cavalier 30 - motor side of BLACK/ white in cavalier if your aux 1 is negative output then you'll need another relay to change it to a positive output. if you already have a relay changing it to positive then you're set. also if the alarm has a +12v input for door triggers then you can still connect pin 30 of the above relay to the alarm so it will set off the alarm if someone presses the trunk button when armed

Ok this is exactly what I have. The BLACK/ white wire for the trunk release is positive. The aux 1 on my alarm is negative so I used a relay to change the output to positive. I have the positive door trigger wire free since I dont need it for my doors. So would I use that relay and change it up alittle or need another relay. Please tell me how to wire up the relay. Thanks

you should just be able to wire the switch side of the trunk release button to the alarm's positive door trigger input. I would just save yourself the trouble, and save you trunk release button and just simply pick up a glass break sensor. That way they dont have to press the trunk button, as soon as they break the glass the alarm is set off.Kenny

but i want this as a backup just incase the glass sensor doesnt work. I have tinted windows and the glass breaking might not set off that sensor.

make sure the GROUND WHEN ARMED ARE DIODE ISOLATED !

why not just hook up the trunk pin. i will trigger at the same time

i would say the force of someone breaking the glass of your car would be enough to trigger the shock sensor on your alarm....if at first u dont succeed........ lower ur standards
