I'm installing a rs in a 2000 monte carlo, code alarm 420a with a 555lw. I'm pretty sure the 555 is not working. I can get it to start with rs by turning key after hitting button. It's wired just as in the manual, swapped out with a new one and same thing. Anybody got an idea?

just wanted to clarify, car starts fine with key and with rs only when key is turned to on position at the same time as rs  is pressed

Did you wire for Passlock II?

Your Monte should be Passlock II not Passlock I

thinking about a resistor and relay. Not worried about anti-theft, need to figure out how to wire so that car will always start with the key but resistor will bypass passlock for rs.

Have you tested the car's pink, white, yellow, and orange wires to be sure they're all getting power at the time they should?
