ok, need some opinions here:
per this post i am having problems where turning off the ignition triggers the door lock output. (code ca680 and 06 silverado)
code tech support tells me they have seen that happen on certain full size chevys. their fix was to use a relay off the keysense to interrupt the lock wire output.
it works, but you have to keep the key in the ignition for a few extra seconds (which the voltage goes away) after you turn the ignition off.
obviously this is unacceptable. code tech support then suggested a time delay relay, but i am unwilling to do all this.
i argued that this is an alarm problem and they argue this is a vehicle problem.
MY QUESTION - has anyone done remote starts in a 2006 (or close) chevrolet silverado? if so have you heard of this problem? if i disconnect ignition 1 from alarm problem goes away, but then of course i have no remote start.
i want to rip the code out and put something by DEI in, but i want to make sure this isnt a vehicle problem that will follow me to a different alarm.
thanks

I read this post and your other one too. Wow, that's stupid. Definitely the alarm's fault, and not yours. Sounds like you diagnosed everything very carefully too.
If I'm not mistaken, the CA680 is mostly Audiovox anyway......I install Audiovox, not Code Alarm, so I might not be quite right on all the different outputs your unit has.
I can think of two options:
1. Have the CA680 trip a relay, and then have the relay trigger the XK01, like this:
85: fused constant
86: lock output from 680
87: chassis ground
87a: no connection
30: green lock input on XK01
The idea is that that weak, negative-3-volt output when you shut of the ignition, isn't strong enough to trigger the relay......only the full lock output will trigger the relay. At least I think it's going to work.
2. Don't use the 680's lock output anymore. Instead, connect the 680's "pulse after start" wire to the lock input of the XK01.
On Audiovox products, that wire not only makes a pulse after remote starting, but it pulses with lock too. Not sure if it'll be the same on your unit, but it's worth a try.
Also, it's possible that the "pulse after start" output has the same design flaw as the lock output........but it would just take you like two seconds to make a temporary connection, and see if it works.
Also, this probably won't bother you, but it should be known that in this case, the doors will lock every time you remote start, even if they weren't locked before................you could consider this an annoyance, or a nice security feature, depending on your viewpoint.

hi chris-
you should work for code! vehicle problem or alarm problem? -- posted image.
i moved the xk01 to the "pulse after start" wire. it does pulse w/lock and does not suffer the weak voltage problem. problem solved!
while it works, i think im done dealing w/code alarms. i hate to have to do these hacks, and their support was un-sympathetic on top of it.
i am still curious if anyone has seen this problem with full size chevys (still thinking about changing the alarm for another brand) or if it was just this unit and shouldnt happen w/another brand.
thanks again for the post chris. made my day.
