compustar lock pulse too short, too long

So I have a compustar CM4000 that i recently installed in my Audi. The Audi has a feature that you can roll all the windows down by applying a sustained pulse to unlock, and roll the windows up with a sustained pulse to lock. so the .125 second pulse is too short it seems and doesn't always get recognized (sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't). And the .8 second pulse is too long and actually triggers the windows to roll up or down for a moment. I was hoping to keep this feature active so i can use the latched aux output to control the windows, are there any tricks i can do to provide a slightly longer lock/unlock pulse? Say .25 sec or .5 sec? Could a Special Option 500 programmer do it? Or could i rig up some sort of electronic contraption?

If you can get a hold of the programmer you can set the Aux and lock  durations.Cris

I can get access to the programmer, they're on ebay for like 80$. If it's my only option I'll do it. That's assuming someone can tell me that it will definitely work to set it to something custom outside of the 4 basic settings.

That's the lock pulse output, not the axillary output

yes you can adjust the lock output duration but not a custom just the standards listed in the install book.Cris

Yeah, that's the problem, none of the standards listed in the install are just right. my options are .8, 2.5, .125, 3.5 .8 is too long and triggers my windows for a moment, .125 is too short and works sporadically. Is there some sort of electronic trickery i could use? Maybe some kind of electronic timer? or anything else? I think a pulse between .2 to .5 second would be sufficient.

according to what i just read a dei pulse timer is only programmable for 1 to 90 seconds. i need a half second.

check out the TR7 from pac-audio. Might be able to do the timing you need.Cris

You can use capacitors to extend the pulses a little bit. I only did it once. You could keep the low (.125) setting. The locks in that car are negative, right? You'd hook up the positive (long leg) of the capacitor to constant positive, and the negative (shorter) end, just splice that onto the unlock wire......whether you splice it onto the Compustar's wire at the brain, or the car's wire inside the door, wouldn't matter. But I would recommend doing it inside the car, at the brain, so it's easier to troubleshoot and less likely to get wet. Just add small capacitors, one at a time, until you get the desired result. I remember using a couple of 4700uF capacitors from Radio Shack, but someone here on the forum corrected me and said he thinks it's 470uF. Basically: You press unlock. The capacitor charges up. As soon as the pulse from the Compustar stops, the capacitor releases its charge until it, too, runs out of power. The result is that the car sees a slightly longer pulse. More/bigger capacitors equals more time.
