I am installing an RSS-5224 remote starter into a 2006 Toyota Tundra Double Cab. Start function seems to work fine but I cannot get it to Tach learn. When I run the tach learn, the led just starts flashing indefinitaly. The engine cuts out when RPM's reach 3000, so I assume it is seeing the tach signal ok. I went to one of the injectors for the tach signal. Any thoughts?

Does the unit start 1st time everytime without any grind? Astro shows the tach as black behind the guage cluster, 8 cyl. reading.

If so.....your done. The engine is supposed to stop at 3 grand. Theft prevention.

Hey KarTuneMan,

Engine seems to start fine everytime so far with no grind. I went to one of the injectors for the tach signal. Maybe I should move it to the tach wire behind the instrument cluster. I assumed that it was getting a good tach signal or it would not shut the engine down @ 3000rpm. I believe this is the over-rev protection kicking in. I just cant figure out why the tach learn option does not work. Any chance that moving it to the tach wire in the cab will help?

Everything is good. I noticed that the new RSS series from Astro seem to program alittle different than the old series. The outcome is still the same. Leave things alone

Thanks Saskpuller. Have you found that the new RSS's have any better distance than the old 4204's?

Explain that would ya. The only units I seem to use are the RSS 2504's and they are identical to the older astro's.

They do have stage 2 programming, but thats been around for a while.

The RS series is definitely different than the old stuff, even though the RS623 has dipswitches the programming tables are different

I noticed that on the rss623, the tach programming behaved different. No clicking of the module. Not a big deal. Also had to hit the brakes before programming transmitters. Also the tables are different. Not sure on a difference of range as I can't/don't test that.
