I'm working on a customers car and having alot of trouble with his dome light supervision. It works sometimes then cuts out. Ive replaced the relay 3 times. I have 86 to 12v, 85 to -alarm, 87 to -car d.l., 30 to ground. One of my coworkers thought I could change the 30 ground to 12v, that maybe then it would work. Any thoughts?how to wire up a domelight relay -- posted image.

If you have the make/model/year of the vehicle and whether or not you using the domelight or door trigger to turn on the light it might help to determine which type of system it is (positive or negative). Did you test the wire from the alarm to see if it is not losing it's output early?
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

ok Thanks hydroz_23. The car is a negative dome light supervision, and the alarm is negative. So I guess I just have to switch my 87 and 30 around and that should make it work.

You apparently don't fully understand relays if you think switching 87 and 30 would work.
Tell us the year, make and model of the vehicle; as well as which wire you are connected to for dome light supervision.

if its negative use the door pin to turn on domelight supervision.

85 - constant 12v

86 - domelight supervision output from unit
87 - ground
30 - to door pin. *

in some cases, you will need to program your unit to ignore door trigger for 20 seconds until the domelight is out during arming. its best to tag the domelight wire in the car, but without info on your car, make and model, its useless to us.

I have the relay hooked directly up to the dome light wire. Its negative, GREEN/ YELLOW I think. I used the actual door pins on the car, directly to the alarms door triggers.
