I can not for the life of me get the xk04 to respond to programming. I have all of my wires hooked up properly (black to ground, red to constant 12v, green to tx, and pink to rx). I know my tx and rx wires are correct because I tested them. I have tried resetting the unit and still nothing. I go through the two key programming method, but the indicator light on the xk04 does not respond at the same time as my theft light really it doesn't respond at all. The only thing it does is give a slow blink. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

Looking @ bypasskit.com it doesnt list the XK04 as working for a 98 Expedition.  The first year listed as working is a 99.  Maybe somebody else on here can chime in and tell you they got it to work on a 98?  Might be your problem?

Ive had problems with the XK04s before, even tho you have them hooked up right just try to swap the tx/rx wires since they have had problems with pins being backwards before, Sometimes I have tried using a different module and had a second one program but the first one wouldnt, I dont know why but it worked...

As todds440 has already pointed out, the XK04 is not compatible with the 98 Expedition. Here is what they list as being compatible. None of which are data based solutions, only key-in-a-box types or pellet types.

idatalink ADS_TB_FM will work on the 98 espidition, and is the only no key required one I've used so far that will.

Hey extreme1, I checked their site before I made my earlier post and the chart does not list anything older than 99 on the Expedition (link). The manual does not show that it is compatible with the 98 either (link). Do you have anything that specifically shows it as being compatible with the 98 Expedition?

These two bypasses are pretty much the same thing. So why would one work and the other wouldn't?
