I have a 1992 chevy ck 1500 pickup that I am installing a remote start / keyless entry system on. I am trying to find the correct wire to on the coil to tap into for the tach wire hookup. The manual says I should have 1 to 6 vac on the correct wire. I checked both white wires on the coil and the both read 10 vac. This is more than the manual says, which has me confused. Also is there a preferred way to tap into the correct wire so as to not cause problems now or later?

Use either one and test to see if the unit accepts the signal. Most systems require a minimum of 6 volts in order for a proper tach learn.

Thank you for your help on this Jeff ....... :-) I am about completed with the install but am having trouble finding the park / nuetral safety switch wire, any suggestions?

Just ground this wire.

I have hooked up everything except a 4 pin satellite harness, that includes a status output{blue}, accessory trigger {orange}, starter trigger {purple}, and an ignition trigger {pink}. I also have not hooked up several wires in the primary harness. they are the factory alarm disarm {lt GREEN/ black}, factory rearm {GREEN / WHITE}, (+)iginition out(to alarm){yellow}, (-) activation input {gray/black}, (-)wait to start input{WHITE/ blue}, (+) activation input {WHITE/ red}, channel 2 (validity only) RED / white. I do not have an alarm system so I assume these do not need to be hooked up. The ground and the light flash in that primary harness I have hooked up. The unit operates the lock correctly, and I have programmed my remote. But the unit does not do anything when I try the remote start feature. I have check chassis ground on all safety features and all wiring hook up several times, everything that I have hooked up is in the correct place and good contact. THe only wires not hooked up are mentioned above. Please help avital does not offer tech support to the consumer."

4 pin satellite harness, that includes a

status output{blue} which is (-) to help bypass on vehicles that have a antitheft system if any,

accessory trigger {orange} (-) to power additional relay for another accessory wire

starter trigger {purple} (-) to power a second starter wire

ignition trigger {pink} (-) to power additional relay for another ignition wire

factory alarm disarm (-) {lt GREEN/ black} used to trigger factory alarm disarm probably not required

factory rearm (-) {GREEN / WHITE} used to trigger factory alarm arm probably not required

+)iginition out(to alarm){yellow} not needed unless you have a separate alarm installed

(-) activation input {gray/black} used if you want to activate remote starter with a factory installed alarm or to any system that puts out a (-) output

(-)wait to start input{WHITE/ blue} used for diesel vehicles that require a warm up period before engine starts

(+) activation input {WHITE/ red} used if you want to activate remote starter with a factory installed alarm or any system that puts out a (+) to trigger

channel 2 (validity only) RED / white (-) used for trunk release or anything you want to activate with the aux. channel. Example horn, window roll up module, sliding door, powered hatch, etc.

The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.

Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya
