i am attempting to install a viper 791 into a 98civic with factory door locks and no keyless entry. this is my first alarm install so i have been using the directions i found here.
http://causeforalarm.thecarthing.com/version6/stealth_alarm/ek_civic/index.html
i am not hooking up the remote start or any of that since my car is manual. i decided to test everything before i made the final installation since my mounting point is damn hard to get to should anything to go wrong. i haven't added any kill switches in...yet. i decided to test first then add them later, if possible.
the setup:
i connected everything for a test run.
i am substituting an AU94t instead of the stock factory shock sensor. my 2nd sensor is the dei tilt sensor.
i depinned the following:
h1/1 - RED / white - chan2 validity out
h1/6 - violet - + door trigger
h1/9 - BLACK/ white - domelight supervision
h1/10 - WHITE/ blue - remote start
not using H2 or anything of the remote start
on H3 the only thing i left was the grey hood pin wire.
the problem:
so everything is connected as it should be and i connected the battery rolled down a window closed the doors/hood/trunk to test.
i get power to the alarm. i get 12v back to my tilt sensor. i get ~5v to the antenna. the alarm doesn't arm when i press the lock button. the display shows the rx icon every so often but beeps at me 4 times if press anything. the LED doesn't come on for the alarm either. i cycled the key on/off a few times that did nothing. i tried disconnecting the antenna as mentioned on a thread in here and reconnecting it after a few minuets. that had no effect.
the questions:
1 whats going on? i hope i provided enough info to help troubleshoot.
2 on the writeup i followed it mentions tapping the ignition wire for a true ignition source. i didn't see anything in the 791 install manual that said i needed to do this if i am not putting in the remote start or a kill switch. do i need to do this, and where should i wire it to on the brain if i do?
thanks for you help

you'll have to hook up ignition or splice out the yellow wire in the ribbon cable and supply IGN to it.....

and i'm assuming that you have hooked up power and ground on the same plug... black and red?
