Simply put, will the DEI 1700G work with the '06 Cobalt LS?   My girl already ordered it without asking me, and she wants this remote start in soon.
I did a search couldn't find anyone using the 1700G on the '06 Cobalt, hope it will work.

1700g am not sure it maight work even if it work you still got a lot resistors to go through this is pk3+ in my opinion go with a PKUGM2X bypass pk3+ and does the resistance for you the only thing you have to use resistors would be for door locks .let me know if theres anything i could help with

Well the 1700 is supposed to control the door locks, parking lights, etc.. for me so I don't have to tie it in.
Is that not correct?

door locks yes parking lights no i looked it up on diretechs and it does not list that it gives 547g witch like a 1700g but am not sure it might work but i never done it like that the 1700g does the fallowing door locks door trigger pop hatch/trunk factory panic input. and pk II and pk III in some cases also PK III+ i know there one made by idalink that does almost everything for you same as 1700g + resistance wich a lot of ppl dont use but am sure you don't wan your car to have codes or lights on the dash

djtecthreat...as per the 1700G's manual Cobalt is not listed, nor are any other PK3+ vehicles. I'll lay money on it doing nothing whatsoever when connected to your vehicle.
1700G is designed to bypass PasslockII/Passkey3 cars via the data wire as well as control locks, trunk, etc. where that's possible. I think it would probably do the perimeter lighting with disarm as well, but not parking lights.
At any rate that's kind of moot since it's not going to work on the Cobalt...I would suggest that you use the PKUGM2X mentioned above as well, though you could do the car with a universal bypass and a couple relays and resistors.
Parklights and everything else are really not hard at all...once you've got the trim piece off of the console by the BCM/fusebox there are 3 screws holding the BCM in place...unscrew them and you can move it all around and easily get the wires you need.

I'm most certain it won't work. Chris is right, you only need a bypass as the rest is very easy....

Alright,   I'll order a PKUGM2X and keep the 1700G for my Envoy.

On second thought... Can I use the XK01 with this car?   What is required totally to do this with either the PKUGM2X or the XK01.. I'm not excited about tying the door locks in, everything else I can do no problem.

The XK01 could be used...however judging by their documentation the firmware isn't too ready yet. In addition it would have to be ordered with that firmware or flashed with the XKLOADER, which may be more work than you want.
I think the XK01 is a total waste...you'd still need the PKUGM2X, all the XK01 will do is doors and trunk. It's not hard at all to do resistance door lock interface with a relay and resistors, and the lock/unlock wire is at the BCM like all others.

Ok, what do I need for resistors to do the Door/Trunk.   I ordred the PKUGM2X just now.
I'm pretty good, but this new junk is making life difficult.
