folding mirrors with central locking

I have been trying to set up my folding mirrors to open and close as the central locking is activated.

Mirrors are operated by reversing the polarity to the motor. There are limit switches in the mirrors.  The mirror switch has 3 postions CLOSE - OFF - OPEN (if you return the switch to the off position while folding they will stop in that postion)

I have installed a twin relay between the switch and mirrors simlar set up as in the actuator reverse polarity set up here https://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#arp. this work fine.This allows me to switch the polarity to the motors.

I now need to energise the coils of the above set up from the door close siganls for at least 4-5 second to allow the mirror to operate fullyHowever my problem is the door lock open/close signal only operate for 0.5 second. Pulse is positive from what I can tell with the multimeter.

I need some sort of relay confiuration that will supply voltage for a given time and the shut off. The Momentary to Constant Output set up here https://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp would prob work if it worked on a positvie pulse.

Any help suggestions appreciated.

Model of vehicle is a JDM MItsubishi FTO.

I know the FTO inside out at this stage as I break them for parts.

What you are saying is correct wiht 1 type of switch (the FTO's were fitted with 2 diff switches over the years). The switch you are talking about is a spring return. It is simple to do with this switch. all you need is 2 relays to to bring door pulse to the ope and close wires on the rear of the switch. I FTO's fitted with this switch there is a time delay off unit fitted that supplies power for approx 5 seconds.

Unfortunately mine is fitted with the other switch, nd the switches are not interchangable.

Can you confirm that the FTO mirror switch was the spring return. i.e. Pulse open/ Pulse close.

No the switches cannot be swapped, different connections. Also there is is pulsed output unit in the FTO with the switch you have wired. i.e when you press the switch this unit give approx 4 second output to allow time for mirrors to fold fully. This is the black control unit, to the right of  the dooor control unit, under the access panel in the drivers foot well.

I am curenttly developing a circuit to allow me wire easily to the other switch. Pule timer described above will give me the timed output I need but you also need a system to of relays to reverse the polarity to the mirror motor.
