Hi to all. Have a 99 5.9L Durango that's had a Compustar R1600 installed and working for about 2 years. It suddenly just stopped working. It sometimes locks or unlocks the doors, does not disable the factory security system, and won't start the vehicle. The parking lights no longer flash. Tried the 2nd remote, no difference. Printed the user's guide from the net - no help there, tried to re-program the remote, no lights flash. Independent shop that installed is long gone. Any suggestions what to do ?

Thanks

Dave

your in valet mode.

Push the lock button (red) and the trunk release button (below the red button) for HALF a second at the SAME time. REMEMBER HALF A SECOND NOT 1 NOT 2 but HALF .05 seconds. Word
oh your parkinglight will flash twice and you should be good to go. If not call Firstech @ 888.820.3690

Thanks for the response. Pretty sure I checked valet mode already (ran across that when we first got it, my daughter put it in valet and I thought this thing is pooched, read the manual and voila it worked again) will check again for sure tonight.

well just keep in mind the doorlocks will work but your parkinglights wont flash anymore if it is indeed in valet mode.

Thanks dswift - checked valet mode last night - nada. When you try to use it, the blue light flashes on the remote, but nothing happens most of the time. Sometimes it actually locks or unlocks, no parking lights flash and it doesn't always de-activate the security system (sometimes it does). Does this system have a battery somewhere that might be dead or dying - kinda' seems something like that but I don't know much about it. I looked at the box that was installed under the dash and all wires seem to be in place. There is kind of what looks like a removable door for a battery on it. If I push the button on the unit that's mounted on the windshield, the blue light flashes there as well.

Thanks for your help

Dave

Well with the r1600 that takes a A23 battery. You can tell by the LED on the remote. If the light is weak change the battery. So far from the symptoms it does seem like you have no energy to produce the singal that need to be gernerated from the remote. battery does make a huge difference in RF (remote frequency) Change the battery if all fails let me know and i will call you.

dswift - you nailed it - low battery in remote - enough to light led but not enough to function.

Thanks

Dave
