I am trying to install an Autopage RS-622 remote starter with keyless entry system (I installed one before in a 1998 Toyota with no problems) into my truck. I understand that I have the PATS in my truck, so I purchased the XPRESSKIT XK04 bypass for that. I have everything wired up except for the door locks, but it will not start (it does not nothing). When I push the door lock/unlock buttons on the remote the lights flash and I hear the relays working fine, but when I go to start the truck it does nothing. I do not know much about the XPRESSKIT XK04 operations. I never used one before. The LED flashes at the same rate as the security light in the dash.  So I do not know if this thing is even working. Could this be the problem? I guess does anyone have the latest wiring diagram for my truck and does anyone have any suggestions what may be the probelm? I do not have the remote starter hooked the to the GEM in anyway. Does the GEM have anythng to do why the truck does not start?

When you remote start the truck does your accessories turn on? Do they turn on and there just no output to the starter? Be more specific. You can test the immobilizer but remote starting the truck, wait for the accessories to energize and insert the key. If it cranks and stays running your good. IF there is no crank sound to me you didn't learn TACH.

First of all, thank you for your response. This is what happens. This is what I have hooked up. power, ignition, starter, accessory, parking lights, brake, hood switch and XK04 Bypass. I went through with my multimeter and verified all the grounds and power as well as verified what what wires were which oin the ignition harness. What I do not have hooked up are: power door locks, door trigger and tach.

This is what happens.

XK04 Bypass: All the LED does is flash at the same rate as the alarm light in the dash. Even when I push the reset button on the XK04 the LED still keeps on flashing. It does stop flashing when the alarm light stops flashing.

The remote starter: When I push the lock/unlock buttons on the remote the parking lights flash properly (door locks do not work because they are not hooked up yet). The valet light comes on when I push it, so all that looks good. When I push the start button on the nothing happens. It is completely dead. I do not know if this is because the bypass is not working properly or it is the remote starter. What happens if you do not have a working bypass in the system? Does the starter turn over and the truck will just not start? I would like to know more about the symptoms if I have a faulty bypass. You had mentioned something about the leaning the tach. Do you need to do that on this truck? The reason I ask is because I did not use that feature when I installed an Autopage starter on a Toyota Corrolla.

Thanks for your help.

It is not a bypass issue....yet. The truck would still try to start even without the bypass, or at least kick on the dash lights. You might have to set the remote start to tachless mode before it will attempt to start the vehicle....I don't use Autopage, so i'm not completely sure about that. Also read the owners manual and make sure you are using the remote correctly. You might have to hold the start button for a few seconds, or push the button a couple of times to actually remote start the vehicle.

Thank you for letting me know that this is not a bypass issue (YET).

According to the manual, there is no minimum time to push the button. When I push the button to start the car the remote will beep back at me 3 times a couple seconds later. When I put put an volt meter onto the starter lead or accessory lead it appears there is a very slight change in voltage then it goes back to zero, like it wants to initiate starting but does not. I verified the hood pin is working correctly (not grounded), I verified the grounds, I verified the brake wire is not at 12 volts, I verified the 12 volt signals, I verified the neutral safety switch is grounded. I guess my questions are:

1.) Do I need to wake up (or connect to) the GEM in order for the start sequence to begin via the remote?

2.) Do I need the door locks connected in order for the start sequence to begin?

3.) It does not appear that I need to the tach lead hooked up because this unit allows me to start various other sense methods:voltage, timer, rpm, etc... I was planning on using the timer method. Please let me know if this is a bad choice.

4.) There is this tan/green wire (~20guage wire) that comes from the ingnition switch. When I test that wire it goes to 12 volts when the key is in the "on" position and not any other position. This wire is not mentioned in any wire diagrams. I did connect it to the the second ignition source on mthe remote starter. What is this wire for? Does it need to be connected tothe remote starter like I have?

5.) Is there anything else that should be grounded or hooked up?

Thanks again,

Ok, I m a guythat thinks he knows better and does not read manuals. The default start sytem is the tachometer start. I reprogrammed the remote starter and it now starts once I put the key in the key slot after initiation. I will work to hook up the rest of the wiring  and the finishing hooking up the bypass.

I am not saying I am in the clear yet, but I will post if I have anymore issues. Thanks again.
