I have a steel mate car alarm , i bought it for $100 of a clearance table, its not returnable, its a steel mate 2 way 888 paging alarm.

I noticed the emitter/ariel for the 2 way bit is not there.

I looked at the ariels that are provided with such alarms and they looked unsightly for my early 1960's period custom, i need a ariel i can hide, the car has no interior at present so i can hide anything anywere but it will be behind metal.

the ariel socket is a 6 pin din, i have a male plug.

question is can i make a emitter that doesnt need to be behind glass, i have the whole insid eof the roof to play with.

could the emitter just be a long wire, would it need to be coiled?

i havent opened the box yet, would anyone know what pins are what on such a alarm?

i am an idiot

If it is the receiver module that attaches the top of the windshield, those things have electronics inside them. It is not going to be as simple as connecting a wire to it. I do not know about the steel mate units, but all of the ones I have worked on have had a circuit board inside them.
