using a python (or any DEI product) for an RX8. my question is is there some setting that I need to use on the alarm because my injectors read about 3 volts. a normal tach wire that ive used on other cars is 12 volts. can someone give me some guidence.  Voltage sense didnt seem to work for me.

Thanks

Doing tach is the better way in my opinion, BUT at my shop my boss said that we didnt have to do tach, so I been doing voltage for the last 6 years some say it wont start in the cold but we dont have any problems, But when I do a job on the side I do tach unless its really hard to get to, but like 99 percent of the time I do tach.

To change a dei piece to Voltage change step 2 to voltage and  always set the crank time to 1.0 which is normally step 5, thats what i have always set it to and the cars dont come back.

the tach wire for the rx8 from 04-07  i believe have not changed its the wire thats not BLACK/ white, black or WHITE/ blue at the injector or the ignition coil.

Set the black probe of your meter on the preferred wire, place red probe to batt + and set meter to AC. Start engine and probe will read about 3VAC rising slightly if you rev up.

you want to measure a tach wire with AC voltage, and it'll read between 1 and 7 volts AC....

strange that you've used DC voltage before and got it to work!

...half of the truth can be worse than a lie. <----Roger Russell said that..

to be honest. ive never had to measure the tach signal. i just knew i was the right wire cause ive worked on the cars ive worked on. this however is my own.  i had the leads on backwards. measured about 28 (200 setting) and reamained around that number. reving didnt seem to have an effect.
