Pager/alarm on manual trans Help?

I have two questions if any body can help. I have a 97 Ford Ranger with manual transmission.  I have bought a Hammer fm 2009 Lcd pager/alarm system. I want to hook up the remote start, and it to be safe, if possible.  What accessories do I need, such as relay for clutch switch etc...? I heard something about using a reed switch but I don't really know how that all works or were I would go to get something like that.  I also read in one of the previous forums about hooking up to the cruise control neutral safety wire but this vehicle doesn't have factory cruise.  It does have an aftermarket cruise If that is of any help.  If anybody can help and point me in the right direction It would be appreciated.   Pager/alarm on manual trans. Help? -- posted image.

oops!! ran out of room I will ask my other question on new forum

Is the system made for remote starts in a manual vehicle ? If the system is made for a auto tranny, I suggest not installing this and getting a unit that is meant for a manual tranny vehicle.

I concur: You should ONLY install a starter if it has been designed for a manual transmission. That unit is not if I it is the one I am thinking about.

Pager/alarm on manual trans Help?

Its me ZX9R again. Thanks for the quick response, I guess I need to know what I need as far as an alarm system to work on a manual. Several of the alarms on ebay just say if you have manual trans call and we will send you the extra parts you need to install it.  What differs on a module for a manual trans or is it just added parts?  I also understood that you could prohibit the vehicle from starting while in gear. If this is not true or the way this works  I would rather not install it at all. You know the first thing I will do is kill my neighbors cat.

p.s The main reason I purchased this alarm was the range.  It is said to go up to one mile, couldn't find another alarm like it.

If the system is only an alarm, then you need to do nothing except install it. If the system is a alarm/RS unit, then the unit has to be able to be safely installed into the vehicle. Most systems that are for manual vehicles have a sequence that you have to do everytime you exit the vehicle if you want to be able to RS the vehicle. You can get long range alarm/RS units from us if you wish we can send you information on it to you , just email me: techsupport@velocitymotorsport.com
