I had all of my keys reprogrammed by the dealer, and slipped the new key into my 556U immobilizer bypass, however, the immobilizer is still kicking in and shutting the car down (only thing that has changed is the key). So, I called Circuit City (the installers) and they said they need to reprogram the remote start. I would guess this is something I can do on my own, with a little know how. Any one got some know how for me?
Thanks!

Slide a key into the ignition but don't turn it on. Now, remote start the car. Does it start? If yes, the 556U related circuit is at fault.

i can hold my key near the ignition and remote start it. I have even had the car running at one point with my immobilizer light flashing on the instrument panel and i was able to drive it around (not sure what that was all about). no problems at all until they reprogrammed my keys.

I'd say go back to CC and have them fix it.  Once you try to fix it yourself, or reprogram it, they may void your install warranty and refuse to work on it again, unless you pay.  It may not be your favorite option, but it'll be the least amount of headaches if things don't go right.

well, screw that. i get there and they said that there is nothing to reprogram, and that I voided my warranty when i installed the key. He quoted me 2.5 hours to fix it at $80/hour. Screw them, I'd rather pay to have a new one installed and get a warranty back. So, im gonna go tear into it, and see if i can figure anything out. worst case scenario, i'll buy a new system (retarded, but its a better deal). Does anyone know if there is any "programming" to this setup? Person on the phone said there was, guy in the shop said there wasn't. I'm not an idiot about electronics (I installed and tuned an Greddy E-manage on a Quad 4 Beretta). I just don't have any documentation on either the Remote start nor the bypass

ok, so my 556u has power, ground, and when the remote start is active, there is ground on the blue wire (as the manual says there should be, my install is setup like the first diagram)
http://www.directedstore.com/manuals/556UW.pdf
The 2 wires going to the transponder ring have low to no resistance at the 556u connector (beep on the multi meter goes off)
I am starting to think the 556U itself is bad. Maybe i shorted something when I installed the new key? All of the wiring is doing as I should expect, and again, holding a key up to the lock cylinder allows the car to run on a remote start (did the test with the key being used in the 556U just to be sure). Short of buying a new 556U, any other ideas?

woohoo, got it. the only thing i don't know for sure is how??? haha.
First off, I pulled the steering column apart. removed the transponder ring, checked the whole cable back to the 556u for damage. Nothing. put the ring back on, tried remote starting... immobilizer shut it down.
Next, i decided to check for voltage on that blue wire (the one that switches to ground to activate the 556u), and to my surprise, 12 volts! So, i decided to try the remote start while checking resistance between that connectors solder point and ground. i applied the probes to the joint and a ground and "click". I heard the relay in the 556u go off. I thought.. Huh, didn't remember hearing that before. I decided to try starting it to see if i could hear it, and i sure did. Whats more is that the car was now running too! ??? ????? I then figure well the only other thing I messed with was that ring, but i tried starting it already and it didn't work. wth? So i started playing around with the ring, moving it about and such, and I found that it would start if the ring was in a VERY specific area (1mm off, and no beans). Then I remembered the jumper in the 556u for key read sensitivity. I swapped it and VOILA! Everything working like a charm. That must of fixed it huh? not so fast! You see, it was on the setting circuit city set it at before, and I had already tried with both jumper settings prior to messing with the ring at all.
So, at this point, the only thing i can come up with is that the relay got stuck somehow when i was messing with it to swap the key, or i tugged the cord and moved the ring out of that 1mm zone (but why did the jumper swap not work before???) I'm going to say the relay was stuck because thats all that makes sense. Its working reliably now though, and that makes me happy!
Thanks for to those that tried to help!

If you didn't hear the relay click previously and now you do then it's probably a bad crimp in the inline fuseholder of the 556U. (seen it)

I suppose that could be, though I tested for power a number of times and there was never any doubt that it was getting there (that doesn't mean that it was ALWAYS getting there though). It is still working great so I will keep that in mind if it stops working again.
Thanks!
