I have a 2002 Gmc sierra and i'm looking to self install an alarm/remote start in it. I have done a few alarm systems before but this will be my first remote start. I've done some research and like the Compustar. But my question is is there anywhere that a non-dealer could purchase one other then ebay? I know everyone says not to buy from ebay. The closest compustar dealer is about 140 miles from me. If there is nowhere else to buy these units which other a/s units would you suggest that could be purchased by a non-dealer? Thanks for the help. This is a GREAT site.

I think it's only the pro models that you have to purchase from a local dealer. I just installed the P2W900FMAS and picked it up from a MECP school (Installer's Institute.) I did see several non-pro units online, but I wanted the RPS, Secure Valet and fancier fob.
It's a nice unit and if at all possible worth a drive to get it. Your local stereo shop might have access to them too, just aren't signed up on Compustar's website. It would be worth asking.
