remote start/alarm, 99 f250 v10

I have a 2002 F250 and I recently installed a compustar, so I'll help the best I can. Do you have factory Keyless entry and a VSM (vehicle security module)? On mine, there were two wires in the VSM, apply ground to one and it locked, apply ground to the other and it unlocked. This is great as long as you don't want priority unlock. Priority unlock was a little more work, but not to bad. The wire chart here matches up with my tech sheet for without VSM/Keyless. If you have a VSM look for wht/red for lock and blk/wht for unlock. Just a quick ground pulse is all that is needed. If you have to go to the door switch, you will need to verify that the switch is 5 wire reverse polarity. Basically of the two wires you need one will have power and the other ground for lock and it will reverse for unlock. However it will not work if one wire is disconnected. The relay is setup as, cut the wire, 30 goes toward the motor, 87a goes toward the switch and power goes to 87. The coil connections depend on your alarm, it's probably ground signal, so power the 86 and connect the 85 to the alarm. If you have a VSM, you just need to amplify the ground. So 86 to power, 85 to the alarm. 30 to the VSM and 87 to a good ground. There are a number of reasons why it isn't starting. Does the starter turn? Does your system have a starter disable? Does it start with the key?

It dose not have factory keyless or alarm. I will try the doors tonight. When I hit the start button, the acc kicks the radio on, but stops right before cranking. Yes it has a starter disable, but I have not hooked it up yet. Yes it does start with a key, I had to double check a few times.

So does the acc turn off or does the process stop? Just double checking but you have run a wire a to a confirmed starter wire and a confirmed ign1 wire?

The process stops. I have the Ignition 1 and 2 wires hooked up. I have tripple checked the wires against a few different diagrams. They are all correct, but I think some may not be getting a good conection. I'm going to try and retap all the wires this evening. Hopefully it will work.

Do you have a DMM? I would try to remote start watching Ign1 and a second time watching the starter wire for voltage. You aren't using scotch locks are you?

Whats a DMM? No they are not scotch locks. I got them from a buddy who does automotive electric work

Digital Multimeter. Very handy for making sure you have the right wires and to make sure the brain is sending the polarity/signal. Just because the tech sheets say it's that color doesn't mean it is. T-Taps? For my install, I would solder those connections.

They are the taps you put a male spade connector on the bottom. They are the only taps I have ever used. I want to make sure I have everything working before I solder.
