i am planning on getting the Clifford 50.5 for my 99 civic coupe. the add ons i will be getting are, digital tilt sensor (507T), glass breakage sensor (506T), Mini Piezo Siren (513T), Automatic Window Module (530T). Here are a few i want but don't know if i should get them, Backup Battery (520T), do they even do anything that is worth spending money on? Trunk Release Solenoid (522T), will they even work on my 99 civic coupe? are they reliable to use on my civic?
So far these are what i have on my list, are there other add ons i should consider?

im no expert, but if i were into stealing cars, all i would have to do is break your window, pop your hood, and rip the battery post off your battery. at this point your alarm wouldn't do anything but disapoint you.
with a back up battery, and a very well hidden outside siren, even if they broke your battery cable, the siren would still be ringing. even better, if you put a small peizo siren inside the car also.
ide rather have a back up battery and a interior siren before all your fancy sensors.

i have back up battery and a piezo siren on the list of things i will be doing. do you think a backup battery siren would be any good?

for 1, the back up battery, and peizo siren are 2 seperate items.. but 1st and foremost the back up battery is most important.
with a well hidden exterior siren, and a back up battery, those 2 things are going to protect your investment the most.
i hate to say it, but its soo simple to crack a window, pop a hood, and disconnect a battery.   after that happens, yoru tilt sensor, glass sensor, dual shock sensor, isn't doing you any good, when the alarm's battery source is dead since he disabled the car's battery.
a hidden alarm with a back up battery, and a well hidden siren and wiring is a must, after that, all those sensors will add to your protection.
without a back up battery, you might as well quit now.

i understand the piezo siren and the backup battery are two different things. i am getting the sensors just for added protection to deter some noobs. but just wondering, does the piezo siren have it's own backup battery source? one more thing, where would you recommend hiding the exterior siren under the hood?

the 2nd siren (piezo) is connected directly to the alarm. i believe the siren output and obviously ground. usually its somewhere close to the alarm brain.
of course you would want to mount the alarm brain some where not so obvious.. maybe removing the radio/glovebox/instrament pannel, and installing it some where inside the dash, not obviously near the fusebox under the steering wheel.
and a good installer will mount the external siren behind the drivers side front fender. this does require you removing the fender and hopefully running the wires inside the frame, or unibody. the last thing you want is a theft pulling down your plastic splash fender and just pulling the wires out of the siren.

1 would be fine. chances are if a thief gets into your car, and 1, either pops the hood, and kills the battery, and its still ringing, 2.. he finds your external siren and kills that.. by the 3.. the peizo siren ringing in the car, he will prolly give up by then.
the peizo is quite loud. not ear deffning but somewhat painfull.
1 peizo will do fine. and like the brain, i would suggest hiding it just as well as the brain. if anything, hard to reach.
the alarm in my car, brain, back up battery and peizo are behind my instrament cluster, against the a/c tubes, and the upper part of my dash. to get to it, you would have to take off 2 small panels, and remove my guage cluster and then reach up into the dash to get to my alarm module. very time consuming.

thanks built b16a, i will actually consider either putting the piezo behind gauge cluster or the ac vents, i will look for a place that is hard to get to. is there anywhere else i can safely put the exterior siren, don't really want to remove the fender

behind the fender is the most secure, its very hard for a thief to get ahold of, behind the fender is the best hidden place to mount the siren. under the hood is ok, but hidding the wiring, and making the wiring unaccessable is most important. if the theif can pop the hood, and get to that siren, if he can't get the wiring or its very difficult, chances of him pulling the wires out is slim.
so if your going under the hood. a very tight spot. and your wires better be invisible. lower the better. actually under the car would prolly be best.
