mazda3 detect door unlock

Hi, I have a Mazda3 with keyless entry, and I want to be able to detect when the doors are unlocked with the remote. Since this car uses single wire/single polarity lock/unlock, I am not sure how to differentiate between the unlock pulse (straight to ground I believe) and the lock pulse (through a resistor). Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, Rick

Sorry guys, I managed answer my own question. I was getting confused between *triggering* the lock/unlock and what happens when lock/unlock occurs. So I now understand that the lock/unlock trigger is single wire, but the actual unlocking uses a relay pairs, one to the drive motor in the lock directon, and the other to drive the motor in the unlock direction. So all I need to do is wire a relay across the unlock-relay's output and ground to invert the signal and I am set. Thanks!

You will have two wires coming from the lock unit that "sit" on ground. One will go live for approx one second on locking and then the other will do the same on unlocking. These are the motor wires. I'll echo Chris. What are you trying to achieve?  If you are trying to control the locking via an alarm r/s then you need the "one wire".  Normally this goes to ground on lock and open circuits, i.e. "breaks" on unlock OR VICE VERSA there are diagrammes to "show how" in the locks section

I'm putting in a trunk popper. I have a 450T module which I can use to activate it... but I need a pulse to trigger it. I'm going to connect a relay between on leg of the door motor and ground, and then use the output to trigger the 450T, which would be setup to require a double pulse to activate the trunk popper. Nice and simple. The only problem with this is that door unlock will trip an extra time when the trunk pops... fixing the problem would involve adding another relay and moving the unlock leg of the motor to the new relay, and then triggering the new relay with the 450T. I don't think I will worry about that until/unless I start using more of the 450T's outputs. Thanks again guys! Rick If I start to use more outputs of the 450T If I did want to Another way I could do it would be to feed the output of the unlock relay into the the 450T, add a new relay for the unlocking, and connect the motor to the new relay. Then the unlock motor would only activate I'd have to make sure I keep the motor legs grounded / engergized

I'm not sure why exactly you're concluding that you have to do all this weird stuff with the unlock motor lead. It's not a big deal in the least for it to operate multiple times. All you need to do with your relay is the following connections: 85, 87 - ground 86 - driver's unlock motor lead (if the factory keyless does only the driver's door on the first press of "unlock" this is necessary) 87a - N/C 30 - WHITE/ blue input to 450T. Use channel 3 from the 450T to activate a relay for the trunk release solenoid you're putting in and all will be golden.C Renner's Auto Electronix
