Hey all, I am looking for some help. I just purchased a 2008 Silverado, and the automatic locks, and alarms are driving me nuts.

Is there any way of deactivating the automatic locks? I like my power door locks, but when i want out, i want to get out, if you know what I mean.

How about turning off the 101 different alarms? Is there a wire that can be unplugged on the dingers (seatbelt, door ajar, key in ignition, etc)?

Any help that you can offer would be great. Thanks, Jon

Check with the dealer you purchased from. This "should" be a programming option.

Someone here might know the procedure.... give er a bit....

Have you looked in the owners guide?

Unfortuntanely I have both tried my dealer, and the book. No luck. The dealer just changes the subject, and the book only gives me options to change when the doors lock.

What I can find in the book is when the doors lock, nothing about the doors staying unlocked. I am hoping there is a wire that can be disconnected, and something that will not affect the warranty, if you know what I mean.

Do you have the auto- unlock programmed- so it unlocks for you? Looks like there is no easy way around the locking-

See page 122 of your owners guide (you know, it's that encyclopedia sized book that takes up all the room in the glovebox which nobody reads).

Seems like you can't change the fact that it locks, but you can change the unlock so it unlocks when you put the lever in park.

Then again there is a more invasive method. Use a relay to open the doorlock motor wire. I'd use the vehicles accessory wire to activate the relay so that when you start the truck, the relay instantly opens the circuit before the truck has a chance to lock the door. After you turn off the engine, the locks will work normal.

As far as the ding-dongs go, not much can be done because all the signals enter the BCM in analog format then the BCM handles the chime.

Okay, this sounds kind of interesting, with the relay. So to understand this correctly, I open the hood, use my vehicle accesory wire (is this the red wire that is also used as an auxillary wire for trailers?) Now, what relay do i need to touch? Will it be one of them under the hood, is it labeled door locks?

Okay, do I cross two poles? Then start the vehicle. Do I put it in gear or anything?

I am new to this, and I don't want to do something wrong, but I am anxious to give this a try.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, and step by step instructions would be great!!

hey Big Dog, thats a great idea. i hadn't thought of that. 2008 silverado alarms -- posted image.

and the more i think of it, why not wire it in like you say, but use the "constant to momentary" setup and just time it the length you want so that way after a little while even if the truck is still running, the motor on the driver side still operates??

jbeck12, you use an aftermarket relay, wired into the truck to break the electrical connection in the door, if your not familiar with wiring relays, i suggest you dont try this. instead print out this thread and take it to a professional until you find one who can do this procedure.
