A little expert insight would be appreciated!!!!!

I want to install a remote start  Nordic Start unit in a 2000 Ford F-150 Supercab 4 door......

I received a remote mounted PATS bypass module add on that I wish to use with my remote car starter! I received the transponder bypass kit with a car starter I had purchased off Ebay.

Problem is I have no idea who made it; but it is intened to be mounted remotely with a transponder key left in the case of the "Bypass Module". I understand how it's suppose to work pretty much and seems basic enough, in that it has to "two" harness's that connect to the bypass.

1) "One" connector is a three pin; which has yellow, black, and red wires in the harness connector.

(yellow was found cut off almost at the connector!)

Please correct me if I'm wrong in my understanding............

I think red is suppose to be constant power, and black is ground but as for the yellow not sure what that was for!!!

2) The other is just a two pin connector; black, and BLACK/ white.

(presume these are to be connected, wired to a auxilliary start relay) or do they need to be tapped into the vehicle PATS system somewhere or are these to suppose to close the auxilliary start relay circuit????

Logically since this bypass is mounted remotely hidden under the dash somewhere when it's installed, this is where I have a dilemma!

I would think hypothetically any transponder key should work, If I can figure out how to program the bypass to communicate successfully with the transponder chip but I'm thinking it can even be a key blank that is left in the bypass module.

Since it is only for the remote start and it is positioned well away from the column; will any transponder key work as long as it is mounted in the bypass module "case" or "housing"? Inside the case of the bypass module it had a key but I can't remember what I did with the key....uh ,oh !!!

Interesting note:  Inside the bypass module case I notice there is a "single" jumper cap, but I notice there is two possible jumper connections!

My question; is this how you program the bypass transponder to communicate with the transponder chip of any "FORD" key ????? I'm guessing you simply move the jumper to the other position for program mode; next insert a transponder key, then power up the bypass red (postive constant 12 volt source) and "ground" black lead in the same connector then wait till the circuit (black, and BLACK/ white connection shows continuity..... as one should be signal input, and the other signal output. Once continuity has been established I'm guessing you just move the jumper back to it's original run position and then remove the power??????

Can someone shed some light on this situation and direct me as to how the signal lead wires should be connected???? The more I think about it I'm almost wondering if the signal wires need to be paralleled to the column PATS somehow or are they suppose to only control the auxilliary low current control circuit of the auxilliary start relay??

Thanks for your help in solving this issue!!!!

The black and black white wires are supposed to go to a ring that mounts around the ignition switch. This sends a signal from the key in the box to the pick up coil there. Without the ring your not gonna get it to work. I have made the ring before by wrapping thin insulated wire 3 or 4 times in a circle and placing it around the switch. The ends of the wire would then go to the black and BLACK/ white.

As for the yellow, that would be the trigger for the bypass. It will go to the status wire on the RS(a wire that gives ground out whenever the RS is on).

As for the key, it needs to be a programmed key for your truck...

Thanks for the info Mike; I guess I was thinking it could have been parallel connected somehow into the exsisting tranponder pickup in the column but by the sounds of things maybe it's better if I abandon trying to use this one and just buy a new bypass kit because I'm not sure why they would have cut the trigger wire so close to the connector but I didn't see anything like a status lead on my RS unit however there is a lead identified as antitheft looking at another RS unit I have but thinking this should be at utility output connector of th RS somwhere......

I just didn't understand or I thought I understood the bypass is just that a bypass and it was intended to fake the key is actuall in the ignition thereby starting with whatever key was in the bypass module as long as it was programmed to communicate with the bypass module. I didn't think it would interefere with the exsisting PATS as long as it was well away from the column but I understand that was wrong.

Much appreciate the insight and will now look at getting new Bypass! If I understand correctly do all the bypass modules have to have a key placed in the module case????

sounds like a Trilogix universal bypass... red = 12V  black = GWR      yellow = key sense (usually not needed)
