ok, this question is especially for howie, in my neck of the woods we don't really go deep into bypassing factory anti theft systems, since they are not as common as they are in the u.s.a, uk and other parts of the world, what i'd like to find out is how difficult it is to bypass a factory anti theft system without a bypass unit. i encounter transponder sytems most frequently since nissan and toyota rule the trinidad market.  meaning would it be difficult to hotwire a vehicle if u were to tap into the direct points to start the car meaning starter, gas and the ignition. thanks again in advance.

It won't start without a bypass unit..... I'll save ya the trouble of waiting for Howie.

If I'm wrong Howie will correct me.... but I'm not.

PLUS, I don't think anyone is gonna tell you how to hotwire (in a fact, steel) any automobile.

Just seems against the forum rules somehow..... but I could again be wrong. But I'm not!

OK I'm back in the world rebooted my WiFi yet again, t&t  you've learned to write the Queens English again good man, you remind me of a pal from London with Windies parents, to Joe Public he spoke Oxford English,to the blood it was Ja argot.  Back to business, t&t not a chance those transponders F**k up the engine management, usually through a data lead so you can't tap it by applying a voltage or grounding them. On earlier Rovers, Ren Lagunas and UK built Nissans once you turned the immobiliser off via the remote, you disconnected the ignition input and joined it to the permanent feed, the immobiliser would never actuate again. I belive you can pop F150's thru  ascanner but that's about the limit, oh I forget GM cars with the original resistance Passkey just measure the key's resistance and apply that resistance to beat it. That's why you get resistor packs with DEI R/S product. On current cars we remove the chip and glue it to the antenna housing around the ign switch, legally this is acceptable because here most of the alarms we install are UK Cat 1 with 2 breaks i.e. ignition and starter. Note this doesn't work for BMW and VW because the antennae are to weak, a 556U is mandatory, t&t if you get one of these pm me for full works on VW's BMW's and Fords. I assume you are right hand drive, let me know. The nearest I've been to the Windies was Florida.

What about making your own?  Wrap some wire around the key 13 times or something like that and wire it through a relay.  I've never actually done it, but I've heard it works.  You just need to make sure you wrap it around the right amount of times.

I think Chris Luongo has done it I seem to remember him posting something about it on the DEI forum a couple of years ago, also DEI used to(still do?) publish a diagramme showing how.

Yeah, I was referring to the DEI diagram.  I would be that it would still be out there somewhere.

I've done it a few times in a pinch, but it is a bigger pain than it sounds. The price of a key box is so cheap it's just not worth the effort....
