ignition circuit

sup guys, quick question, installing the viper 5002 for quite a while,never actually got around to reading the install manual as i'm almost always installing dei products, i heard my boss mention something about the immobilizer circuit on the brain only being capable of holding only 15 amps of current, we offer the carjacking system at our shop but sometimes in the more difficult vehicles locating the fuel wire is a pain, so i just wanted to know if that statement is true about the brain only holding 15 amps of current or will it be able to hold the ignition circuit if i were to use the on board immobilizer to interrupt the ignition wire.commit your way to jehovah and he will act in your behalf. psalms 37:5

im not exactly sure what he means by "immobilizer circuit on the brain" but if in doubt on any type of current draw stuff, just use a relay.

yeah....in the US if you tie into an ignition or fuel system and that car wrecks into someone during a shutoff....you're gonna pay out the a**. Way too much liability I did notice that DEI used to have anti car jack mode....they have now done away with it as far as I can tell. Looks like they have just a passive starter kill now. I've seen some systems with it lately, but really never payed attention to it. I am the anti car jack mode... Either you shoot me, or I shoot you.

Traditionally they used an off-board relay with 30amps capacity. Here with Cat 1 alarms we cut  2 circuits and because they don't use a separate ign sense (Key side ign carries it) we are usually cutting main ign and starter.  NEVER had a problem with the onboard relays, as a matter of fact DEI techies here tell me that if correctly installed they've NEVER had an immobiliser failure. I would personally cut only the starter, cutting the ignition will cause liability problems if one makes a bad joint and the engine dies at 60+mph. Why give yourself problems? 

ok in reply to all the statements above, i still use relays to interrupt the starter and ignition, the on board relay immobiliser is what i use for the fuel, we offer three point immobiliser, since car stealing is big buisness down here, and dei hasn't done away with car jacking systems mikvot, and can i tell a customer it's either they shoot you or you shoot them since car jacking is a problem locally as well, i cut main ignition and starter with off board relays but i just wanted to know the current capacity of the on board immobiliser from dei, since my boss doesn't always have his facts straight when he's talking if y'all know what i mean.commit your way to jehovah and he will act in your behalf. psalms 37:5

Could you import Viper 480 or 500 from UK? They have Assie spec 3 circuit onboard immobilisers
