i have a 1997 chevy silverado it has power locks it. it does not have an alarm. i have attempted to install the valet 561r.

as most of you know the instruction manual is ok except it doesnt go into great detail.

so here is the wires i cant figure out.

white w/ blue stripe, white w/ red stripe, the entire satellite conector (Blue=status output, orange=accessory trigger, purple=starter trigger, pink=ignition trigger.

here is what is hooked up

pink w/stripe +12 ignition, pink +12 ignition, Purple +12 starter, violet w/ stripe-tach input, Black w/ stripe to the toggle switch toggle switch grounded, brown to the brake switch,Gray to the hood pin,

here is what i have it doing when you push the start button it flashes the lights, and you can here the fuel pump and the ignition click. if you go ahead and start the truck while it is doing this with the key you can not shut it off without unplugging the unit even with the key out. if you push the unlock button the unit just clicks.

1. What wire did you connect to on the brake switch?
2. Are you saying that the remote starter will not crank the engine at all? And that pressing the remote again will not shut it down? Or pressing the brake will not shut it down?
3. Does the truck have factory keyless entry or not? Have you connected the lock outputs from the 561R to anything?

i connected the brown wire to the brake. pressing the button just makes a bunch of clicking noises it does not start the vehicle at all. the ignition itself comes on but not the starter. i hooked the lock wires to the blue and brown wire in the drivers door.

it does not have factory keyless entry.

thanks Dan

one more note when the remote starter is doing its clicking thing if you press the brake it will stop.

well all is well with the keyless entry portion of the install. Now with the remote start issue. i have the pink wire and the pink white wire hooked up to ignition 1 and ingnition 2 in my ignition harness. i have the purple wire going to the starter wire. when i push the button im still getting no starter. but i am getting fuel pump and ignition under the hood. if i push the brake it will stop everything as advertised. push the start button the truck will not start if you start it with the key and then turn it off the remote starter will keep it running until you hit the brake pedal.  what am i overlooking? please help i am trying not to go spend a whole lot of money for something i simply overlooked.

Try this procedure:
1. Turn the key to run. Turn it to the crank position very quickly and release it(not long enough to start the engine, but long enough that you hear the starter kick in).
2. Attempt to remote start at that time.
If it starts and runs, the truck probably has the Passlock II immobilizer which needs bypassed. It's on the early side to have that(most tech info I've read says Passlock II started on the '98 full-size trucks, and on cars with the '97 Malibu...however it really wouldn't surprise me much if your truck had Passlock).
3. If the truck still won't crank with the remote starter, try manually applying 12 volts to the starter wire at the point where it goes into the remote start. If it cranks, you've probably got a bad module. If it doesn't crank with applied voltage but does with the key, that's pretty much again confirming that the truck has Passlock.

i think i have figured out what is missing but not how to fix the problem. what do you hook up the sattelite connector too. it has a pink (-), a Purple (-), a orange (-), and a blue (-). they all read -200MA and say ignition turn on and starter turn on. and status output.

What do you think is missing?
The satellite connector may not need to be permanently connected to the vehicle at all. I only suggested it could be used while troubleshooting.

ok well i went and got a new module for this thing. now before i put it in could someone please explain exactly what wires i have to hook up and where. i dont want to mess up another module.

this is what i have so far. this is all the thick harness.

pink (+) tied into one ignition wire.

pink w/ stripe (+) tied into second ignition wire.

red tied into constant 12V.

Purple wire (+) tied into the starter wire.

Black white neutral safety (-) grounded thru the toggle switch.

Violet w/ stripe to tach wire coming out of the ECM module.

Brown to the brake switch.

Gray to the hood pin switch.

PRIMARY WIRING HARNESS ((Black (-) to ground),  White to the parking lights).  NOT USED i have Light green with black,  GREEN / WHITE, Yellow, WHITE/ blue, gray Black, WHITE/ red, RED / white. These are all factory disarm/arm, ignition out to alarm, wait to start, +/- activation pulse, and channel 2 validity. no of which i need " I THINK "  .  i also still have the 4 pin satellite cable which circuit city said i dont need. it has status output, accessory trigger, starter trigger, and ignition trigger.

that about covers my nightmare. hopefully you can shed some light on this or tell me im good to go and ill put the new module in.

thanks in advance for all the help.
