Avital 2100 in a 93 Fox Body Mustang

Greetings to all. My name's Adrian. Glad to be a part of the12volt.com been using this site for info for awhile now. However I finally got the courage to do an Alarm install on my 1993 Mustang 5.0. So heres what I got. I have two door lock actuators 2-wire that I need to install. I'm not sure of my current setup i know the car has no actuators but I do have the Buttons on my armrest to lock and unlock. I am assuming someone removed the actuators for one reason or another. Then I also have an Avital 2100 car alarm, that I need to install. From what I have been told all the connections are in the drivers side kick Panel. Is this corect? Is there any specifics that I need to know before installing the alarm? I have tools crimpers crimps etc.... Any1 ever done this install on a foxbody? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I have a 91 fox that I installed remote start/alarm on. The mustang requires the factory wiring to be cut, and relays used in order for the power locks to work. If I am not mistaken, I used the 5 Wire Alternating 12 Volts Positive Door Locks located here For what it is worth, your mustang probably had the lock actuators removed because typically when they go bad, they freeze up and you cant unlock or lock the doors depending on where it gets stuck. You can buy oem type replacement acutators on ebay located here for about 33$ These are direct replacements and come with everything you need to install them including the correct connector plug, and end to connect to the factory lock/unlock mechanism

Thx again for the install. Let me ask this question then. The relay diagram located here: https://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#5w I would need to use two relays per door lock actuator that I have. Meaning two on the passenger side and two on the drivers side? or would it just be two and it gets both of them working.

The car also has power trunk release, can this be integrasted into the alarm? The alarm have the button for it listed as an Auxilary, but can I use it for that or do i need a separate module for that.

If I remember correctly, I used 2 total relays. One for unlock of both doors, and one for lock. The mustang does not have separate lock wires for both left and right side. I used the trunk release trigger wire from my alarm and attached it directly to the wire connected to the button in the glove box but my alarm has a built in relay for the trunk release. Your alarm may require a relay to use it for the auxilary . If you have an auxilary output from the alarm you should be able to program it.

AGain thx for your responses guys, they really helped. I have another question. I am matching up what wire on the module goes with what wire on the car and i am uncertain of a few things: For the door trigger, my module is asking for a positive and a negative door trigger input. however the chart that you guys linked me too for my car only lists a positive door trigger. What do you guys suggest? Also I am tempted to connect my truck release wire on the module to the trunk release switch on the car, but the installation guide warns me this:"" never use this wire to drive anything but a relay or a low current input!This trasistorized output can only supply 200mA of current.Connecting directly to a solenoid, motor, or other high current device will cause it to fail." Will I damage the module by connecting it to the trunk release switch?

with most alarms, they offer both a (-) and (+) signal, or input wire. If your car has (+) door pins, you will only connect the (+) door pin wire from the alarm. The (-) will not be used. For the trunk release, you will need to wire in a relay to send the signal to the trunk release solenoid. You can use a 4 wire or 5 wire relay, but the 5 wire relay will only use 4 wires.

to wire the trunk release, 86 12v(+) 85 trigger from alarm 30 chassis ground (-) 87 would be to the trunk release solenoid at the release button. Make sure you are on the right side of the button, or it wont work.

oops.. your trunk release would be a (+) trigger, so the correct wiring would be 86 12v (+) 85 trigger from alarm (-) 30 12v (+) 87 to correct wire at the switch 86 and 30 can be connected together and connect to the same constant 12v (+)
