I ordered an XK05 for my wife's 2008 Honda CR-V. Will the XK05 work without flashing the firmware? If I have to flash the firmware whats the easiest (ie cheapest) way to flash it? Spending $50+ for the XKloader is out of the question as I would rather buy a keyed bypass and give up the valet key instead of purchasing a device I'll never use again!

1. Not unless you ordered it with a different firmware - the default firmware is PKT2 which does Toyotas.

2. Probably finding a local shop that does DEI stuff and having them flash it - if no one else does I'd let you borrow mine if you pay for shipping to and from.

I found an old friend at a local shop who was able to flash it (Thanks Austin!).

Got it installed and it works great.

I realize it's been a few years since I was a full time installer, but I don't remember ever starting a remote start install on a Saturday and not finishing it until Tuesday! :)

I will say though they are much more fun to install when you have no deadline and can work (or not work) at your own pace.

I did a 2008 Chevy Uplander alarm/RS that took about that long - of course most of one day of it was trying to undo a not-starting-with-the-key/"service theft system" condition (I had accidentally undid the main connector from the steering column only part of the way, so that the ignition switch circuits were connected but the transponder data weren't).

Definitely nice with that one that the customer was cool with it.

I just did this Mitsubishi here. Had to have them return, but that was just because I didn't have a workable bypass at first.
