I have a 96 acura tl. it has had a valet remote start for a few years all of a sudden now it will only start with remote but shuts down with the key in. Will only crank with key. car is stuck where it is. a few days ago it shut down at a stoplight and would not restart for 10 minutes. now it is stuck where it is. anybody have any ideas.

so far i have heard there is a problem with the factory power lock module/security module. This would make sense because the locks activated when it stalled the other day. Anyone else ever dealt with this??

The only thing that I've seen is on a Honda Accord that I took a look at. In my case, one of the ignition wires had no power. When remote started the remote start would power the ignition wires on but when you do the key take over the remote start stops giving the wires power. The key should then "take over" and give it the power. I would check the ignition switch if I were you.

thanks for the tip! that was it. Not the remote starter but the ingition switch was bad
