I installed a Viper 550ESP in a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant.  If the headlights are on when you turn off the car they will automatically turn off and then turn on when you start the car.  When you remote start the car (with the headlights in the on position) the headlights turn on...if you turn the remote start off with the transmitter the headlights stay on until the drivers door is opened.  Any ideas how to make the headlights turn off if you shut down the remote start with the transmitter?

If your starter automatically locks the doors after shutdown, or can be programmed to do so, you can pulse the door trigger wire with your lock button. I dont have my resources in front of me to look up the polarity of those two, but if both are negative then you can just use a diode. If locks are neg and door trigger is pos, or vice versa, you need a relay. Or you can just turn your lights offHeadlights stay on -- posted image.

Hook up a relay as follows:
86 ---- constant 12v
85 ---- blue/black (or is it blue?) wire of 550 programmed to Re-Arm
87 ---- ground
87a -- green door trigger input of alarm
30 ---- (-) door trigger of car
The re-arm wire will trigger the relay everytime the car shuts down by remote (or times out). Ground will be sent to the car door trigger, headlights will shut off because car sees a door opened. You have to "break" the door trigger input to the alarm or else the alarm would be triggered.
