Did an install on one of these last week and some thoughts:- European models don't use the GEM box any more, they use a combined fuse box/GEM box box located behind and under the glove box in UK models. The good news is that the colours are still the same and ALL the wiring goes to this box including ignition start acc except the trunk contact which is in left hand floor loom under rear seat, the only BLACK/ blue in the loom. The only difference is that instead of using 1076 diode wiring simply place a diode into into each 12v+ supply to each dome/courtesy/interior/trunk light  with the band towards the bulb to stave off the 20 minute wake-up-sleep cycle.

I had one very strange problem with this car, the grey/black starter wire sits on 12v+  ALL THE TIME, even when engaging start with car's key. I had to go to the engine bay fuse box (adjacent to battery) and pick up a grey/black to the start relay (It's R13 and I know this wil be the same on US cars because it's made by LEAR which is therefore US sourced) . Any one have any ideas apart from a problem with the factory starter relay?

Howie, which pin at the relay activated the relay rather than the solonoid?

Sorry CK I just found that a grey/black at the relay went live on start extended my start lead out to it and away we went. By this time I was tearing my hair out the f***ing car had Lambo-type doors fitted, 3" off the ground, NOX, double hatch spoiler etc etc. I'd caught the passenger door on the bloody wing (fender) already and I just wanted it to work. Of course it was a manual and the customer (21 year old with rich daddie) wanted it to be set up as an auto, and I said no way.

That's what it's all about these days, tracking work is drying up 'cause of Xmas and of course the bloody recession, normal people accept the factory alarms in their cars or vans, just about every head unit has a USB or 3.5mmm jack socket and Bluetooth, the only ones wanting the stuff are the kids, this vehicle also had 3 batteries, 3 very large amps, neons everywhere, but don't take these on and no one wants to use you because they think you're unreliable, as you say it's the times we live in.
