I have a 1995 Olds 88, this is my first install of a remote start system. Everything works great with the key in the ignition, but when the key is out of the ignition it just cycles through the startup procedures but does'nt crank. I was reading in another post by chriswallace187 about the immobilizer bypass. My key has the black chip in it, assuming that is the passkey l/ll. Does anyone have a wiring diagram so I can bypass the immobilizer?

You have the GM VATS system & this is what you need to bypass it. Take your time & follow the diagram & it will work.

Thanks for the reply, couple questions though. What size resistor is in the diagram, and also the relay, what type is it?  diagram does not tell much about the parts, but it did let me know what I am up against thanks.

looking around online and found this. what do you think? it is totally cutting the vats out of it. I am just wondering if this will cause startability issues with the key

That's how we used to do it when Vats first came out. You measure the resistor in the key and use the appropriate resistor in the middle of that line.

You can use any 1/4 Watt resistor. You should make sure the value is as close as possible. It is best to use resistors rated with 5% tolerance. Relay is a "Single Pole Double Throw"  automotive type 30/40 amp relay with 5 pins.

I'm sure the diagram for the permanent bypass will work, but why would you want to eliminate this security feature your car already has?

thanks for your help. it is a p.o.s. car that i hooked this up on, just for the experience, so totally bypassing it is no problem. thanks again
