Hi,
I'm currently installing a viper 791XV alarm, I have been reading the instruction manual it says to mount it vertically for best results but also it can be mounted horizontally but the range wont be as good.
Will the range be decreased by much if I mount it horizontally instead of vertical, I was thinking of mounting  it horizontallyt near the top of the windscreen in the centre.
I was going to mount it vertically at the rear, but thought the demister would be bad for the range.
Any advice would be good.

try to extend the antanna cable as much as you can avoid loops. the rear is good it doesnt really cut much signal if you mount it horizontal vs vertical. you do however want to avoid them loops as much as you can.

Thanks for the reply,  the rear is tinted as well so I thought that may affect the antenna?  So if I mount it up the front above the mirror horizontally and fully extend the cable then it should be right?

yeah that is good too just start from the middle of the mirror and work your way down if you can route it through the passenger side that way by the time you get to the brain it shouldnt be long. and if you must have to end up with a long leftover , extend the loop as long as you can, what happens if you have really long cqable and just tucked in is it starts making inductance therefore losing signal. take care any questions feel free. ttyl. good luck
