Hi, I just installed a starter in a 2009 Ford E series, and the 09's wires were completely different then the 08's. Ran into some trouble with the parking light circuit. It still needs to be wired, I left it unhooked for the meanwhile. If anyone has info on an 09 that would be greatly appreciated. Also, it seems I took out the light for the transmission indicator on the instrument cluster. Any time saving diagnosis tips would be helpful. Thanks.

I just did alarms (but not remote start) on two '09 Econolines, and I had trouble with the parking lights too.
There's a wire at the parking light switch that tests as negative parking lights, but then as soon as you put ground to it, you burn out the headlamp switch.
It's only around $25 for a new switch, but it's on national backorder. I had to borrow the switch from one of the other vans on the dealer's lot.
I didn't really try looking for positive parking lights, but on most other new Fords, it's WHITE/ purple......maybe you could try that?
Since I was only doing an alarm, I just found the hazard light wire (I think tan / YELLOW) coming down the steering column, negative trigger.

Chris, it is a very simple repair to fix the switch.  Remove the 3 screws in the back cover and take the switch apart.  With the circuit board in hand, look for a tiny burnt trace, you may need a magnifying glass.  When you find it, you will have to jump it.  An old IDE hard drive ribbon cable makes a great jumper.   Strip back a couple inches of one of the conductors, twist it very tight, saturate it with solder, apply solder to both ends of the burnt trace, place the jumper over the trace, heat it and hold it still until it cools, cut the excess wire and reassemble.   Every shop in my town has messed up at least one of these.

Well thanks for the help, I'll check to see if the switch is still reading the same or if in fact I did burn something out on it. I'll check for that PURPLE / white wire as well.
