I just got a bunch of Compustar Immobilizer V2 Bypasses. I have never installed one before, but plenty of 556u. Only thing im confused about is wiring up the V2 to shut down once the key is put in. This 04 Escape im doing is telling me to wire up the keysence, which I usually do anyways. Any ideas?

well after thinking about it, i know how i can do it. Wire a 5 post relay using the keysence + or - to trigger the relay keeping pin 87 open and using 87a so that it will only energize the transponder when the key is not in the ignition. Anyone know if the keysence is usually required on newer fords cause id rather not both if i don't have to.

Keysense shouldn't be required to be active during remote start, no.
You've got it as far as the relay setup.
Also since you're using a key-in-the-box type bypass you could program another key just to put in there (blank generic Ford key or even a used one from a junkyard for a similar Escape/Tribute).

i understand its only required to cut out the transponder unit once the key is inserted, im just wondering if that escape requires that to happen? Cause i know not all cars do

Hmm...I think I've only ever done that on an '04 Grand Prix that was being a pain.
Supposedly if the vehicle sees 2 transponders during a startup it could set a trouble code, but that's fairly easy to avoid(by simply not attempting a remote start with the bypass connected and a key in the ignition. Trouble codes like that might go away after several cycles without a fault in any case.

if the escape starts up with a key in the 556u, it doesn't car that later you put in a key in the ignition cylinder.

at least that's what i've noticed with the 06 escape i've been working on.

If there's a transponder key in the cylinder during R/S, with an active bypass, it will fault. That's the reason for disabling the bypass, with a key sense.

not with the escape i've been working on 2006

the car won't RS if you have a key in the cylinder, but if the car is running on RS, you can put a key in and won't throw a fault.

i don't have the bypass disabled with keysense.

I should have been more clear:

  • If there's a transponder key in the cylinder, while cranking, during R/S, with an active bypass, it will fault. That's the reason for disabling the bypass, with a key sense.

Or:

  • If there's a transponder key in the cylinder during R/S initialization, with an active bypass, it will fault. That's the reason for disabling the bypass, with a key sense.

Or:

  • If there's a transponder key in the cylinder while remote starting, with an active bypass, it will fault. That's the reason for disabling the bypass, with a key sense.
