thanks if you can help-- my aftermarket keyless system(KE5520) has a plug w/ 6 wires, plus 4 wires for power not in the plug for power etc.   Question- I have the diagram for kia at the door kick, but not sure what wires to connect, specifically, the plug from the system say orange:lock normally closed(diagram says not used) ; white-lock common output -to veh. lock trigger circuit; yellow lock normally open; ORANGE / blk -unlock normally closed (diagram seems to say not used); WHITE/ blk- unlock common output;yellow/blk - unlock normally open input. so- does anyone know the colors of wires to connect to get this thing to work? Thanks again- Mark

thank you for looking into this with me. There are 10 wires from the control unit (in plug form) : 1) blk= grnd 2)red=12v.constant 3) pink=trunk release output 4)orange=lock normally closed, says :not used 5)white=lock common output---veh.lock trigger circuit 6)yellow=lock normally open(shows a connect to #9 wire 7)ORANGE / blk.=unlock normally closed , says :not used 8)WHITE/ blk.=unlock common output---veh. unlock trigger circuit 9)yellow/blk.=unlock normally open input, shows to chassis grnd.   10) blue= +12 v output to parking lights      The diag. shows the number 4,5,and 6 wires as the lock relay wires, and the 7,8, and 9 wires as the unlock relay wires. The kia is a neg. door trigger lock system, according to the kia service dept., and all of my other info. I hope you can make sense of this. thanks again--dostfam

Is the vehicle equipped with a factory alarm?

The factory lock/unlock wiring uses a Type "B" Negative Trigger operation.

  • The - LOCK wire is BLUE and can be found in the driver's door harness at the driver's kick panel.
  • The - UNLOCK wire is WHITE and can be found in the driver's door harness at the driver's kick panel.
  • The - TRUNK/HATCH RELEASE wire is RED / ORANGE and can be found in the driver's door harness at the driver's kick panel.
  • The + PARKING LIGHTS wire is RED / BLACK and can be found at the dimmer switch.

Before proceeding, does the KE5520 have fuses in-line already? If not, the KE5520 will need to be prepared prior to installation in the vehicle, as below.

  • The 12V+ CONSTANT wire that is RED will need to be connected to a 5-amp in-line fuse.
  • The LOCK/UNLOCK(NORMALLY OPEN) wires that are YELLOW and YELLOW/BLACK should be connected individually to a 1-amp in-line fuse.
  • The TRUNK/HATCH RELEASE wire that is PINK will need to be connected to a 1-amp in-line fuse.
  • The + PARKING LIGHTS wire that is BLUE will need to be connected to a 5-amp in-line fuse.

Please give me more information on the TRUNK/HATCH RELEASE and + PARKING LIGHTS from the KE5520, before continuing or operating the K/E. There should be more information about polarity of the wires and/or possibly switches/jumpers, on the KE5520 itself, also whether or not any in-line fuses were included.

There is an inline 15 amp fuse for 12v constant (red), no inline fuses (nor are they shown for these wires on the diagram) for y. and y/blk , pink,or blue ( for +12v. to parking lights) wires, so I can fuse these up w/ inline fuses from radio shack or NAPA auto. The wire diag. does indeed show that there should be fuses in the pink trnuk release (10 amp) and blue pkng. lights(10 amp) wires. I neglected to see them, sorry. The (neg.) trunk release has a position for a jumper, and I have that in place, ( one for a pos.release , too , that will be empty.) Now, there are 4 cream( white) wires in the door kick, so will any of these work for the UNLOCK wire? This is looking better, now, we are getting close....,

one thing i forgot re: the above post: it looks as the yellow, and yel/black connect to each other, and this goes to the chassis grnd. the or./blk and wh./blk have a 1/2 circle in the wire appearing to "jump " over the wire connecting the yel and yel/blk. Hope this makes sense. Thanks, M.
