Just one reply, because I'm heartily sick of people not looking up before asking the same question.  If you have a blade (normal) key go to the "vehicle wiring" section on this site there is a 2001  CLK featured, the electrics are virtually identical except your lock/comfort close and unlock wires (same colour) will be in one of the wiring conduits level with front of "B" pillar. If you have a smart key, to paraphrasr someone elsego to the top right red box with the X and click it. I'm sure there is somewhere on this site where there are oft repeated questions and you will be amazed how often this one comes up, it's prob # 3 after Ford/Ram rs problems and dioding door contacts.

Which proves my point!  I reckon this one comes up every 6 weeks! Desh you are not a newbie, so you would have saved this ribbing if you'd have used this site properly. It's a fabulous site use it well and all or most of your questions will be answered.

Howie 11,i appreciate your comment but i did search high and low specifically for a 2001 E320 and there is nothing for that year so iam not asking the same question without looking.
I wasnt looking for any other years and not even a CLK as i want to be 100% sure to find information for that year and model.

OK Desh I know the CLK is based on the C class not the E Class but from the mid 90s when they introduced round headlights, wiring with one or two exceptions* was identical right up to the next shape in 02 or 03  *Some had the GREEN / WHITE analogue VSS in radio loom, others didn't, also by 02 you had to pick-up ACC at the cig lighter. The point is it's doable with a blade key..  N.B. Go to locking pump and there are some cables, brown with secondary colours, they are the door, hood and trunk contacts, also findable where I said the lock wires were located. The only easy way you will get at the ignition wires is by removing the inst. panel Lord knows what bypass to use. Tach is YELLOW /GREEN, either at an engine bay diagnostic point or behind the instrument panel.

Thanks Howie,
There is just one concern i have which is in regard to a universal bypass(key in a box)-I have experienced this on a 99 ML series where the ignition key stops working when it sees the key in the bypass even after using the key sense wire.
In one of the above posting, there is a diagram where it shows to cut into the oem bypass ring wire and by using two relays. Also mentioned is a Mercedes part no for a transponder unit.I dont know how accurate this info is but if you or anyone who knows more about this could explain a little about this,i will really appreciate this.
Thanks.
