I'm going to install a remote start with a Fortin can-sl2. Will I need any other equipment? Is the wiring the same as on the chev 6.0l?

i am not that familiar with the fortin products, does it come with a ring for the key cylinder? if not you will need to use a universal transponder ( providing it is new style chev) with a key in it.

CAN-SL2 should handle the immobilizer bypass, R-code data, and doorlocks. The only issue might be with the tach. Audiovox lists it as white at the ignition coil which is obviously incorrect, but since that truck starts up like a gas engine(no wait-to-start period) and has factory anti-grind, voltage sensing mode won't harm anything. (Or turning engine checking off, if your remote start has that option.)
If you run into problems using voltage sensing, the Duramax diesels have been discussed elsewhere on this forum.

Apparently this is a self learning bypass that requires a key for programing but not for operation.

Thanx chriswallace187. Would you also know if the 2008 Duramax has the same wiring as the gas job or older models?

They have some info on the 2007 and 2008 Silverado wiring on the bulldogsecurity site under vehicle wiring diagrams.    It looks like some of it is different than the previous year models.

The wiring should be identical to the gas engine '07-up full-size pickups, excepting the tach wire obviously. The old and new Duramax engines are quick starting, so there's no need for a time delay between "ignition on" and "crank", or connection of a wait-to-start wire to the vehicle.

CANSL2 does tach as well. This is the module that we use for these trucks.
