2004 dodge ram door locks

I have installed a Viper 5901 in a 2004 dodge ram 2500 diesel. Everything works except the door locks. I have the correct resistors and when I touch them to ground the locks work. The problem is I can get the lock to work with the alarm but only when the unlock is disconnected from the wire. When the unlock is hooked up the locks don't work. Has anyone ran into this problem? Any help would be great. Thanks.s

What resistor values are you using? How did you wire them in to operate the locks? Does your vehicle have a factory security system?

i am using 330 and 820. I connected the resistors to the wires off the alarm and connected them to the PURPLE / dk green wire in the truck. The truck does not have a factory security system.s

ry using the OEM DISARM wire to trigger the UNLOCK instead.Jeff

if the locks work when you touch them straight to ground then it sounds to me like you might need to use relays to give a stronger ground than your alarm can give (you didn't say if you are using relays so i'm assuming you are not)

I've had the same problem on an 04 dodge ram. You can NOT just connect the the resistors to the outputs of the alarm, you have to use relays. Once you wire up relays and use the resistors, you should be fine.

Cool thanks for all the help. I will be giving them a try tomorrow, I'll let you know how it turns out. This is how I'll wire the relays up, right? Relay 1: 85-lock output from alarm 86-constant 12v 30-ground 87-to lock/unlock wire in truck through 820Ω resistor Relay 2: 85-unlock output from alarm 86-constant 12v 30-ground 87-to lock/unlock wire in truck through 330Ωs

Your relay wiring is correct.

So putting the negative door lock/unlock wire through a relay and diode didn't work. I was able to get them to work by installing the diode and swapping to positive trigger from the alarm and then reversing the polarity with the relay. Thanks for all your help everyone.s
