hey guys wondering if any of you have any particular experience with these? I'm thinking of buying a scytek galaxy 5100rs. I have a 91 pontiac firefly convertible that's becoming a bit of a project. the thing is I don't need a 300 dollar system because there's really only about 10 wires that I even have the option of hooking up to in this car, therefore, I don't need 3 or 4 aux channels.

the pros of it are that scytek seems to have a fairly complete line of external sensors and I believe I saw some aftermarket power window kits by them too, so they offer pretty much everything I'm looking for. the problem is I've never used them before and it'd be a bit of a gamble for me because I know nothing of it. are they a decent reliable system? they seem to be the sort of system I see sold at flea markets near me is all.

opinions?

i've used it once, that exact same model you're thinking about installing, it was the worst experience i've had with a starter, it may not neccesarily be a bad system, but it was my worst experience with a starter, maybe others have had better and will chip in.

can you elaborate why? I mean I know it's not gonna be excellent, but the only reason i'm looknig at it is because it doesn't have to be.

why was it your worst experience?

I installed a 100 or so Scytek systems over the last christmas season. Seemed like a good product to me. I think i had maybe one that went bad after install, so they are fairly reliable.Only real problem that bugged the crap out of me, was getting units that had bad antennas right out of the box. Install is pretty easy, and programming is a snap...probably the easiest system i've ever programmed.

Yeah, i think you'll be fine. The odds of you getting one that is bad are slim. Add me as a buddy, and when you get the system and are ready to install, I'll answer any questions you have.
