Well, I got the Viper 5901 alarm installed, and it is spectacular. The features are too many to remember, and the install was awesome with every wire soldered nicely. The tech at Best Buy Corpus Christi where awesome! The only "problem" I am having is that the cabin temperature is reading a bit high (30 degrees higher) than actual temp. What does the temp. sensor look like, and where could the tech have installed it on a 2008 Chevy Silverado? I have warranty on the install, but I'd hate to take it back for such a small problem that I am sure I can resolve myself, with your help. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, the temp sensor is actually built into the brain, along with the shock sensor. Not really ideal but Directed is trying to make it easier to install, and for customers to be able to change settings on their own. Whenever I install the new Viper Remote starts I try to let people know little things like that. The brain has to be hidden behind the dash and a common spot is close to the firewall. You get the heat that is trapped under the dash and it does make the 5901 think it is hotter. Kind of an unfortunate thing but at least in the winter if it reads its 85 in the car you know the engines warm so you'll get heat out of the vents.
Hope this helped.

Hey thanks for the info. I was afraid that the sensor was in the unit itself, but I guess it is. It's no big deal. It's still a great alarm. The guys at Best Buy where not too familiar with this alarm because Best Buy does not carry it. I purchased it from a DEI dealer, and I had them install it. Thanks for your help.
